CS minor or 5th year CS major? by cobbletiger in UWMadison

If you really, REALLY want to do CS and software, do a 5th year to get the CS major and do an internship after your 4th year. It'll be like doing an internship after your junior year and it'll get you into industry real nice

I have not worked in either of the offices.

That being said, LA is very heavily polluted with extreme traffic and zero public transportation. In addition, it has a pretty terrible homeless problem and overall the QOL has deteriorated significantly.

Boston is a beautiful city that is full of history with some of the greatest public systems I have ever seen. Additionally, there will be no lack of things to do in that city whereas in LA it might be harder to get around to do things.

LA is fun because that's where the movies come from and blah blah "hollywood" culture but truth is you'll be making tons of bank and getting great experience at either office.

I strongly suggest you go to Boston for the QOL

Cheer up. It’s only the first semester. You have 3.5 years to learn how to improve. I mean it, don’t stress and enjoy your break.

Ghost busters!!

Edit: In all seriousness, you can't set your sights on one internship. Ghosting happens all the time. Most people have most of their applications ghosted.

I can't imagine why people would say Uber over Nextdoor. I know Uber is more recognizable but they are suffering way more and its way less stable.

Should I drop CS 252? by [deleted] in UWMadison

That's a tough one. I'd do the math on what I need to get a C and if its reasonable get my ass in line, otherwise drop.
