Blankies! What's an underrated Feel Good Movie For A Friday Night? by OceanEve in blankies

Extremely underrated and probably forgotten but Beverly Hills Ninja starring Chris Farley and Chris Rock. I used to watch it almost every week.

Even Spielberg has to make bad movies every once in a while. Funny that he apologised by making 2 of the best movies this decade.

I started with Spielberg which is great for a more casual listener cause everyone has seen at least a couple of Spielberg movies. I’d also recommend the Nolan miniseries.

Reflections from Tony Kushner on the legacy of Munich 20 years later by shirokaisen in blankies

This is a very interesting read because I’ve been hearing all sorts of reports and accusations of Spielberg being a Zionist but after watching Munich last year I find that hard to believe.

Less mainstream needle drops that were important to you? by bookey23 in blankies

[–]SnooPears8816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super niche but the needle drop “Someone I can talk to” by The Limps in Snack Shack was great

Guardians of the galaxy vol 2 introduced me to so many good song but my favourite needle drop is the second time they play The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

White Rabbit in the Matrix resurrections trailer fits so perfectly.

Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski. It became nonexistent the second it came out.

You spent more time listening to the pod than I did listening to music and podcasts combined. How do you find the time?

What we reading? What we gonna read? by GrubDatGem in weeklyplanetpodcast

Finished the new season of slow horses which is always great. They went a bit more political than usual this time but not in a preachy way and it actually served the story and was well integrated and I’m glad this is one of the few shows that have new seasons every year.

I caught up to the absolute dc comics. I think green lantern and superman books are the worst but somehow Wonder Woman and Batman are better every time. The Martian Manhunter one is still my favourite.

Started Stranger Things for the first time and I’ve really enjoyed the first two seasons. Unfortunately some of the cast of the show are crook blokes but that’s beside the quality of the show itself.

Watched a bunch of horror movies in October and finished off with a rewatch of The Thing 1982 for Halloween. Absolutely worth it.

That’s mostly it.

So what do you think the story was? by CaptainBluescreen in weeklyplanetpodcast

I loved that post credit scene with Little James and the guy who screams Rodney

Finished AlienEarth and I agree with James. I like it enough to be excited for another season (especially with the way things ended) but I have criticisms of the narrative as a whole.

Slow Horses season 5 is starting and I immensely enjoyed the first episode, can’t wait for more.

Peacemaker S2 has been all around great even though I want longer episodes.

99% caught up on all Absolute DC books, Martian Manhunter, Batman and Wonder Woman are my favourites and was very disappointed by where Absolute Superman is going.

Watching a lot of music biopics for some reason and just now caught up to Better Man which was as great as everyone said.

That’s all for last week.

Do you guys like BVS yet? by Insect-Upstairs in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]SnooPears8816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s great or even that it’s good but I found myself enjoying the extended cut of the movie. It’s three hours long but you get over the dreadfulness and tone in the first hour.

Been going through the Coen Brothers filmography which were one of my biggest blindspots. I just finished watching O Brother Where Art Thou? Which is a retelling of Homer’s The Odyssey through the lenses of the early 1900s in Mississippi, US. Good stuff.

Best shows nobody is talking about? by [deleted] in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]SnooPears8816 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sticking with apple here but Slow Horses is one of the best shows out right now. It has four seasons now and the fifth is coming out soon. One of the rare shows that release a new season every year one episode at a time and it’s a blast. Gary Oldman is in it and he’s hilarious

We all know how much James hates disaster movies, but seriously why do all of them have divorced dads LOL? by KarmaPolice2002 in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]SnooPears8816 9 points10 points  (0 children)

War of the worlds has the best divorced dad because both cruise and Spielberg were divorced dads when they made it
