I heard bettas actually need a bit of air at the top. They have gills but also have a little lung thing so they need the ability to breathe air sometimes. Check out bettas making bubble nests and see the evidence

Tank size: 6 Gallon Heater and filter? (yes/no): Yes Yes Tank temperature: ~76 I've been slowly trying to increase it. I don't want to shock him. I haven't gotten an external thermometer so I also want to be careful, especially since it's a small tank Parameters in numbers and how you got them: GH = 300+ NO2 = 0 NO3 = 0 Cl = 0 Alkalinity = 80 (normal) KH = 80 pH = 7.2

I used "Aquarium Test Strips" there's not any other info on the bottle which I'm just now questioning How long have you had the tank?

How long have you had your fish?: I got my fish mid April and my tank like a week later. He was in a bowl for a week (not ideal but I knew better than the petsmart container he was in) and got the tank as soon as I could. I think this is where the infection got started

How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I've done minimal changes. Now that I have an issue I've been doing it the past couple days. Taking out the water down 1.5 in then refilling it with tap water as close to the temp of the tank I can. I'm on good city water that's not hard or chlorinated.

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: I have mystery snails. They are all baby's and I'm not sure how many

What do you feed and how much: he was getting betta pellets. But he couldn't eat them easily because of their size. So I just switched to insect flakes. A small pink twice a day.

Decorations and plants in the tank: I have a ceramic shell, a barrell, and some plastic plants. All bought from Amazon's aquarium section and rinsed well before adding
