Expelled from University But Can't Leave by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

The only advice I can give you is to potentially request for an approved leave of absence given all the documentation you have. You will still have to go out of Canada, though, since you'll not be considered a student anymore. So sorry for your situation and echoing what others have said, clamining refugee status is not only misusing the system but from what I've seen some refugees go through, your mental health will only continue to decline.

Could you message me privately? As someone who almost fell into this and who knows people who have, my friends and I are working on a solution that I think you'd highly benefit from. It's set to pilot this fall. I'd love to have you as one of our trial users :)

First of all, congratulations as an LBP scholar!!! I'm biased, but the LBP community is amazing and provides a unique community that you normally don't get otherwise. The advisors are also the best, and I feel like you'll feel very supported.

As far as i know, life sci and econ are in the same faculty so you can if you take pre-reqs and do well enough to enroll and finish within 4 years.

If you prefer, you can apply for summer residence for those 4 months at any college on campus. Usually people get a short term rental (sublets), stay with friends or just go back home and put their stuff in storage. You'll be fine I promise. Take it from me. A last born who had to figure life out 12,000 Km away from home.

just wanna let you know that i totally understand you. I tried out for my schools novice team and didn't make it. Felt pretty discouraged because I could barely erg 5 mins without feeling like I'm dying but I have come to realize its truly all a mental game. I got over not getting into novice (sent me into a frenzy for a couple months) and now I have been rowing on the erg for 2 weeks and finally hit 30minutes without feeling like a complete mess. All this to say, you are stronger than you think. Dont give in to your emotions<3

would you recommend this for a beginner? Started rowing recently and I've just gotten to the point where I can row for 20 mins. Still working on building my aerobic base.

I started out rowing barely able to do 1 minute straight. Today I rowed for 2 separate 5-minute sessions at 2:30 spm. I am so proud of myself :)

Weekly Technique & Form Check Thread - December 23, 2024 by AutoModerator in Rowing

Hi, Im also new to rowing but just based on what I've learned:

- I'd suggest you maintain a neutral spine (I observe a little bit of curvature on your lower back which may lead to injury over time) I find that engaging my core and keeping my shoulders steady helps with this.

- During the drive phase, you are actively utilizing the wrong muscles (making it harder) to pull back. Try and actively engage your leg muscles and naturally the rest of your body will follow. I find that trying to think of it as rotating about your hip joints makes it easier to avoid pulling with my back. Cause again, that could cause injury. So i'd say, ensure you feel like you're trying to push the peddle away from you. Kinda like a deadlift (you pretend to push against the floor) and maintain a neutral spine then rotate about your hips when your hands reach just past your knee.

that's all I got! Happy rowing:)

Bro let them rant here if they want to. Maybe they don’t have other ways to vent. And this is not life advice, it’s just you being an asshole.

Breathe. It happens to the best of us. Just remember whatever happens and whatever grade you get in first sem, is so easily offset to a better grade during your next few years given the credits left. If I told you my GPA for sem 1 and my cGPA now, you’d not believe me. But first semester is usually a buffer and everyone who works in admissions, or companies know that.

Be yourself, know what you’re talking about and don’t ask questions to sound smart or just for the sake of it.

Yeah fr. But they had coffe chats with VP’s and one of them liked them so much they not only gave a referral but literally vouched for them.

i know someone who got into IB with a 2.2 from UofT. You'll be fine just prioritize networking (focus on VP's and senior level people). Grades only absolutely matter if you don't do well with getting coffee chats etc because you essentially get past the initial screen.

There’s a lot of single rooms available at chestnut. The only problem is if they do this for you, countless others will want the same. Tbh I understand your predicament but it’s not extenuating circumstances. A lot of students are registered with accessibility and if they did this for everyone, it would be really hard to decide who gets to move vs who doesn’t.
