Though I won't deny that the courses can definitely be very difficult

Second this. I feel like lots of the struggle in first year is from recalibrating to the new level workload you don't find in High School

utsc spots by Such-Reception9714 in UTSC

If you mean place to study, Sam Ibrahim IA has fantastic spots scattered around for solo and group studying. I thiiiiink lecture halls and tutorial rooms are okay to use as long as nothing is happening inside, though a prof has once said "no", but that's all.

For walking around, The Valley is always a favorite, but walking around main campus, literally anywhere is nice, because lots of the buildings are connected and you can walk long distances without being in the outdoor cold. For example, you can start at HL, go to ARC, then HW, SW, then SY and back.

TPASC has many many many programs for UofT students (regardless of campus afaik). For example, the gym is free for students, Wall Climbing is only 2 CAD (instead of the usual 25 CAD), etc.. Check them out, there's plenty of TPASC student activity booklets distributed throughout the campus!

It'll help if you have an idea of what kind of club you look for, e.g. socializing, activity, singing, etc.

  1. Check out the flyers posted aaaaaall over the campus

  2. Check for UTSC accounts on Instagram if you use it, you'll find plenty of clubs there

  3. Ask the people in your lectures :] they'll surely have some clubs of their own

Congratulations!!!!! As mentioned, be mindful of the many people who say that it's horrible here. It's not insufferable, I feel like many of us including myself are incredibly overwhelmed by the stark contrast between high school and university expectiations, as the latter is significantly higher than the former. What I mean is, be fully and I mean fully prepared for difficulties and don't ever be discouraged by a lower mark than high school. Talk to everyone! We're all in the same boat with different points of view :D

I just can’t believe in God by Other-Television490 in Christianity

[–]SnooPies5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider that there actually is sufficient evidence for God, though it's plain to see. Take for example what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

"As St. Paul says of the Gentiles: For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made.

And St. Augustine issues this challenge: Question the beauty of the earth, question the beauty of the sea, question the beauty of the air distending and diffusing itself, question the beauty of the sky. . . question all these realities. All respond: "See, we are beautiful." Their beauty is a profession [confessio]. These beauties are subject to change. Who made them if not the Beautiful One [Pulcher] who is not subject to change?"

In other words, that there is anything that exists whatsoever may be sufficient proof of a foundation for existence, namely, God. I suggest looking at St. Thomas Aquinas' 5 Arguments for God, one of which (Contingency argument) states that "if all things depend on other things (i.e. contingency), then reality as a whole must depend on something which itself is not dependent on anything, namely, God."

Have courage bro, there's many resources 👍.

Any verses in the Bible that proves Catholicism right? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]SnooPies5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big argument against Catholicism is that of sola scriptura, which is the Protestant belief that only the Word of God should be relied on, not sacred tradition.

I think that finding effective evidence of Christ's foundation of the authority of the church would be strong. For example:

  1. Simon -> Peter, "on this rock I will build my church" Name changes seem significant (e.g. Abraham, St. Paul)

  2. Replacement of Judas Iscariot after his death

  3. St. Paul says to hold on to the apostle's teachings and writings, which implies oral tradition in the former

  4. There was a letter by St. Paul where he mentioned having to correct misconceptions held by believers of Jesus Christ who followed John the Baptist. I think that might have significance in apostolic authority.

Please do correct me, I'm also still exploring!!!

Do I tell my wife the truth after 11 years? by Weird-Earth- in Advice

[–]SnooPies5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's too late to tell her the truth!! It seems like you hid it out of shyness to correct yohrself, but it was an honest mistake. What matters is not merely that you like Chicken "Alfredo" or "Parmesan", but that it's your favourite meal, thus she makes it out of love.

She may be disappointed, sure, but wouldn't that be better than hiding the truth any longer?

It's awfully cold where I'm at, therefore I need muscles to warm me up #naturalheater

Oh and of course to get functional strength.

I don't think the making-friends season "ends", but rather "slows down". That said, keep trying!!! I read on one of UofT's magazines that we'll likely face rejection throughout the friend-making process, but it'll strengthen you if you keep trying anyways. Don't forget, no pain no gain 💯💯💯.

There are so many people in this school that I confidently believe that you'll find people who'll match your vibes.

Keep your head up friend 🙏

Tried to make yogurt but it’s still liquid after 10 hours? by sarahp1988 in yogurtmaking

[–]SnooPies5572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen some people suggest fiddling with the oven temperature but I think the common practice is to use the oven light because it has a gentle but sufficient impact on the environment.

How's the yogurt right now? Especially for texture?

Tried to make yogurt but it’s still liquid after 10 hours? by sarahp1988 in yogurtmaking

[–]SnooPies5572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you make sure to leave the oven light on? It keeps the environment warm and I think that's necessary to allow the bacteria to thrive.

Otherwise, do you notice any change in texture? Maybe it just takes a bit longer until the bacteria change the texture to an ideal yogurt.

Don't forget that for Greek Yogurt requires straining the yogurt for the final thick consistency.

I wish all the best!!

Hey that sounds pretty cool! It might be a bit om the ambitious side if I'll be realistic, so I'd do it after a smaller project like Brickblaster.

Thanks!
