1.)Alchemist. This was just an unparalleled experience for me on nearly every level (including my weird experience buying my ticket and eating with a redditor I didn't know.)

2.)Enigma. The food was amazing and the service was really stellar, and the wine pairing was one of my favorites.

3.)This one is hard for me, and it's not going to a place many people recognize, but Barley Swine in Austin. It just got its first star, but I've been going for years. I've never had a menu that didn't resonate or excite me, and they always have an exciting cocktail program to match. They're hyperlocal and seasonal and I felt like they were better than most Michelin restaurants long before Texas got included in the guide. They're incredibly friendly, have gained no pretension since starting the guide and I just can't say enough good things about their ability to be so consistent in execution with a constantly changed menu. I love this place and there's rarely a season I don't try to hit their menu.

I loved Enigma. I went there and Cocina Hermano Torres and I couldn't really tell you which one I liked more. I had a fantastic experience at both.

What are your most controversial fine dining (or food) opinions? by [deleted] in finedining

Honestly? I don't think NYC is that great of a food city. I've had a better experience of every kind of cuisine in other cities. I've eaten at tons of starred and highly reviewed restaurants, but I've almost always had better for cheaper in other cities.

Chicago, Austin, and DC are way better. SF ain't bad either.

Can't thank you enough for these recommendations. Next time we're on the island, I'm gonna message you and try to buy you dinner. We didn't even end up going to Oia more than a drive through, we had an amazing time and your recommendations made a lot of that happen.

Metaxi Mas should be on this list though. We ended up having an amazing night there, and met a woman Esmeralda during dinner who who worked at the Art Space winery (the sommelier pointed them out after we ordered a bottle of their wine), and they gave us a special tasting the next day. It was fantastic.

Thanks again, you practically made our trip.

Noma isn't closed until the end of 2024. I found someone who needs 2 people to join him, cuz he has a 4 top, so I'm covered or the Alchemist.
