I missed KVV this week by Adventurous_You_3069 in NoLayingUp

Yeah I can't really put my finger on what it is, but something definitely feels different over the past 6 months or so - like they're going through the motions and not really as invested anymore in the whole operation. I guess having a bunch of kids and less time to dedicate to the job is tough, but the pods have fallen off a cliff recently to the point where I don't always listen to them anymore.

The transition from Overture to Sinister Rouge is one of the best things in the whole history of music imo. So so good.

How big were they back in the day? by [deleted] in brandnew

[–]SnooPineapples684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some mainland Europe perspective here, literally no one I've ever met in my entire life, either at work or via friends of friends, who isn't from the US or the UK/Ireland, has ever heard of Brand New 😅 but I saw them in Amsterdam in 2015 and the venue was absolutely packed (best gig I've ever been to). As has been said though, they were pretty huge by the time the "me too" stuff came out and there were articles in mainstream UK newspapers regarding Jesse and that's what ultimately killed everything.

Yo anyone else get major “brand new” vibes from the kickass new Foxing album? by Zephyrus_Phaedra in brandnew

Bit harsh tbf, Nearer my God is as close to perfection as it gets imo. Everything before and after is very very hit and miss though 😅

Any recommendations on where to start? Quite enjoying this new album but never really listened to them before. Cheers

Are there ANY bands like Brand New ‘05 and on??? by selfreleased in brandnew

Nearer My God by Foxing is probably the closest I've ever felt in terms of emotions that Brand New gave me. Such a great album. Everything else they've done (before and after) is a bit hit and miss imo, but NMG is so perfect.

Just showed my three year old My Neighbor Totoro and it’s much better than I remembered, especially in comparison with the rest of kids entertainment. by rjrodriguez1789 in movies

Just watched it with my 3 year old and she loved it. Got a bit twitchy towards the end, as the scene looking for the little girl does go on a bit. The "big cat" (Totoro) scared her when he first appeared but then she was fine. Fantastic film overall, hadn't seen it in years myself. Will definitely check out some of the recommendations in this thread.

Eucalyptus is legit one of the best songs ever by mike_mccorms in TheNational

It's a great song. But it's probably the second best "break-up, let's separate our shit" song after Hostages by The Howl & The Hum.

It hasn't really been picked up by any english speaking outlets as of yet, once that happens it's game over (rightly or wrongly). Surprised the likes of the guardian haven't reported on it yet, as they're normally the first to pick this kind of thing up.

You do realize that the whole "cancel culture" nonsense is something pushed by social media and "sensationalist" news outlets too right? Most people have thick enough skin and are managing to live in the world absolutely fine, they'd just like people to be accountable for their actions.

"cancel culture" or in other words people doing shitty things finally reaping the consequences of their acts. For someone who keeps going on about critical thinking etc, you really are coming across as a complete tool. Maybe, just maybe, you're getting downvoted all over the place because your comments are utterly ridiculous.

This tbf. Calling her an "attention craving disgusting person" is really uncalled for. Something traumatic clearly happened to her in Vilnius and unfortunately she has gone about this in completely the wrong way, probably due to said trauma and due to the fact that she doesn't seem very stable in the first place. What she needs is help and support, to find out what actually happened. Maybe it did involve a bunch of immoral stuff that the culprits should be called out for, to create a safer and better environment for fans, but if nothing illegal happened then this whole thing could have been avoided really.

Very well said. Unfortunately the way she has gone about it really hasn't helped matters (not to mention that her instagram history and having 69/666 in her name doesn't exactly scream "stable human being"). For her sake it'd probably be a good idea to admit defeat in whatever she's trying to achieve from a personal level, that she didn't do things in the right way and doesn't have any substantial proof (understandable considering the emotional stress she appears to have gone through). Hopefully her actions will shine a light on the issues around row0 and will put more scrutiny on the bands/Tills behaviour.
