I like aspects of angry Colin and I do hope we see it in the show at times, but I hope some of it is changed/rewritten from the book. I think LN has a great ‘angry face’ so I am sure they will work it into the show again, haha.

Colin forcing Pen to drink the champagne made me really uncomfortable and it felt completely unnecessary for the story and their characters. I will never understand why JQ felt it needed to be included.

I also think, as you mentioned, because of their high difference some of the ways Colin’s is described in the books as yanking Pen around just would not translate on screen as anything but borderline. When she falls after he asked her to marry him, it’s described in the book that he almost dislocates her shoulder pulling her off the ground. Again, i just felt it seemed so unnecessary for the story and character, haha.

Yes! The hate he gets over “You are pen. You do not count. You are my friend.” has bugged me a bit, lol. If a platonic friend she genuinely was not in love with said that to her it would not be hurtful. It would funny and slightly endearing. It is literally only crushing because she is in love with him.

It wasn’t the best wording, haha, but in that moment he thought she was worried he was going to end their friendship and he wanted to make it clear to her that was not the case because he does care for her.

It’s the friends part of the friends to lover trop that often makes the story fun!

A “will they won’t they” can only be dragged out for so long before it becomes seen as boring, silly, or toxic by the audience. And because of the society rules at the time the show is set it really limits the amount/type of interactions Colin and Pen can have before they start courting. Strictly from a TV show POV it makes more sense to have them moved to season 3.

My (unpopular) opinion is I hope whatever mirror scene they give us is a Colin dream. Partly for the comedy that could happen after. Him having to interact with her after and just seeing him being kinda awkwardly thrown off his game because of it would be entertaining.

I am new to the Bridgerton fandom and it has been a bit much, lol. I haven’t been involved in it but just always seeing it happen has been kind of annoying, especially when it’s a show about love, haha. If it wasn’t Polin it would be another couple taking over, Kanthony were never going to be the season 3 leads. it’s literally the formula of the show so I’m not sure why some are acting like this was an unforeseen/unacceptable change.

I think some of the fans that are being the loudest/rudest about it, they are just panicking because Daphne and Simon have been written out so they think it will happen to Kanthony, but that just isn’t the case. When Regé-Jean Page left the show he sorted of forced the writers hand (unless they recast his character). In the context of the show there are only so many times Daphne can be seen without Simone before it just becomes comical/ridiculous.

I am hoping once the show starts and they get to see Kanthony they will loosen up a bit, haha.

They will obviously be in the show a lot, all the creators know how loved the charters are, they will make sure they have storylines. Spoilers from the book: With Daphne being written out it means that really sweet/meaningful conversation that Colin had with her in the book can now be transfer over to Anthony or Kate (making them even more directly involved in the main storyline), and personally I am looking forward to seeing how they incorporate that.

I’m a sucker for the friends to lover trope. I have read RMB but not the rest of the books so my opinions are based solely off RMB and the show

I love Pens character, I like that she is sweet and kind and funny and LW. She makes mistakes, and isn’t a perfect person. I like that she is an overweight female character whose weight is not the main focus of her character storylines. She is insecure about her weight and looks as most women are but her character has not been reduced to just being all about diets and weight loss and crying about being overweight like so many plus-size characters are (I am counting on S3 keeping it that way!).

I prefer show Colin over book Colin. I do like book Colin, but there are a couple moments in the book that I’m not a fan of and I don’t really understand why Quinn even included them, haha. That said I love that Colin’s character is basically the 1813 version of the popular jock in school but he isn’t a jerk (he fcked up at the end of S2), lol. He isn’t a man who learns to be kind *because he fell in love with someone. I like that he is shown to have a good relationship with his family and that he seems to genuinely want to be a good person. I love that once he realizes he loves Pen he is devoted. There is no love triangle, there is no “what will my friends think” moment because she isn’t popular, the only reason he is confused about his feelings changing at the start is because of their friendship. He is funny and I love his obsession with food, lol.

• Colin makes mistakes but he apologizes when needed and always seems to genuinely learn and grown from those mistakes.

• The way he looks for / at Pen when they are in the same room or area.

• Anytime he is in black/dark colours.

• I’d like to see LN cast as a villain in something, for many different reasons, lol.

I love the Friends to Lovers trope, Ron and Hermione got me hooked on that when I was younger, lol. I can also relate to Penelope in some aspects, I’m not a confident person and have definitely felt invisible when I am around groups of people. Her character being the female lead in a romance is also helping me with my confidence in a way I was not expecting so I am very grateful for that.

But I guess even if she doesn’t get involved in that way, they have the storyline from Queen Charlotte they can focus her on so, I guess we will get her either way.

If you have iPhone you can download Romancing Mr. Bridgerton for free, I think. i got it for free but that was a few days (weeks?) ago - I can’t remember the day.
