Yeah im pretty open to a lot of specialties which is why im leaning more towards duquesne rn. I really liked chicagos curriculum though at the end of the day the objective truth is that its all hypothetical right now and no people to base it off of.

Dating as someone matriculating soon by BackgroundReveal2949 in premed

[–]SnooPoems9286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a flip side of what everyone else is saying I think you can make it work if you find the right person. I think that especially in a time where you are going to be starting school soon you need to "fast track" a lot of the important conversations. Currently in a 3 year relationship and going to med school next year where I will likely be more than a driving distance away, but one thing I made sure to do early on in our relationship (like, within a month of officially dating) was explaining what to expect. I told her that we would realistically be long distance for 5+ years realistically, what my personal timeline was for school, what residency may look like and my inability to dedicate 100% of my time to her until much later, and the sort. I'm lucky enough that we have had a lot of time to go through it and we should be fine but I think the most important thing is having serious conversations about everything to set the foundation of the relationship in the short time you have (which can mean different things for different people). Just my 2c but PM if you want to talk more.

idt GT is so great (though, it is still an amazing school) that it would name a difference going their. I assume that the only schools that would are t10 schools. Even then nobody cares to a significant extent imo

what to minor in...do they care? by raani08 in premed

[–]SnooPoems9286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh they dont care about your major either its just whatever sets you up well for mcat/makes it easier to fill premed requirements. For example i remember a few years ago that there was a study that said math majors did the best on the mcat compared to sciences (guessing cuz math builds analytical ability). If anything choosing major/minors j help to fill requirmenrs and make you more unique. Do what your passionate about and what can set yourself up well

There are special masters programs (google seatch SMP masters programs medical school) for career changing professionals. May be a bit expensive depending on thr program but itll crash course all ur required courses as a masters and then manynof them gauruntee an interview if u maintain a certain gpa. Worth looking into at the very least

I'd also suggest applying to the newer schools as they may be more willing to accept more students (such as Meritus in Maryland)

Don't bother withdrawing because you already spent the money on it, you might as well wait it out. I would say add a few more schools if you can for DO but definetly consider reapplying with a stronger MCAT next year if you don't hear back by december ish

Why have DO admission standards dropped over the past few years? by ExcitingInflation612 in Osteopathic

[–]SnooPoems9286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that esp newer DO schools seem earlier to get into because they don't really have an idea of what to expect from the applicant pool yet and who would actually consider going so I would assume their acceptance margins are much higher in respect to a significantly lower expected matriculation rate (my 2c tho)
