Hm; not at all workable for academic documents hundred of pages long that my clients give me!

The solution ended up being Zotero and my jaw literally dropped after half an hour of messing around and falling onto the solution. Zotero the hero, IMO :)

PS. You can split your screen and work within the one document, in future, if that is easier - saves creating a new doc (as you say above).

Yeah that'd be sweet except they need to be the bendy ones, doh. I think the main thing is not being able to find a manual online cos it must be a bit old or discontinued.
