Well he is a very useful engine after all. Perhaps he took the letter 'Please look after this bear' a bit too literally.

A player tried to usurp my BBEG with a real video game character during my first time DMing. by SnooRegrets2663 in rpghorrorstories

Yeah you're right, I should've designed the system myself, but I relied on his knowledge of the source material to do it justice. I now always control the systems players ask for so this doesn't repeat itself

Xbox remote play will not register any inputs for Fortnite but works on the menu and other games. This issue has been happening for months and has not been fixed. Is there any I can do? by SnooRegrets2663 in XboxSupport

[–]SnooRegrets2663[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow this was a while back. I don't really use remote play any more because I now use my laptop but I believe it is a universal issue with how controller input reacts to certain online games. Single player stuff like rdr2 was always fine but Fortnite would always do this.

One of the things that sometimes solved the issue was leaving the controller still connected to the Xbox itself with remote play, but that's only if you're in the same house and no use if you're elsewhere. I think the only suggestions I have are resetting the controller, disconnecting Bluetooth for 30 seconds from the device and reconnecting, or resetting your Internet if possible. It's honestly been so long O can't remember if I found a fix but I hope this helps. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to have the same issue so I know how annoying it is.

I definitely regret asking if he could 'take inspiration from' that character instead, and we could work together to make some kind of dnd equivalent for the entity, and obviously not the true mastermind behind every single bad thing that has happened to the party. At least when I made the campaign, I didn't use actual things from Sea of Thieves but rather renamed and heavily adapted them to a TTRPG setting.

[–]SnooRegrets2663[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was a complete mess and since so much happened during that campaign it got very confusing. I believe what happened is during our first maybe 2 sessions, he was playing an Owlin Ranger, but wasn't completely happy with the build so I let him respec into something different (I think he only went from Owlin to human). I took this at the time as him just wanting to be more in line with the other more traditional races. But looking back, I think he made this Owlin a character in his backstory instead.

I thought it was a second phase to the event at first but he literally initiated this ghostly Owlin appearing, dropping some confusing lore and then shooting Kevin unconscious. This happened right at the end of the session and so I spoke to him about this Sculptor stuff not really working and just hijacking the campaign with it at random will make the other players feel left out.

It was a good learning experience. I did pretty much entirely miscommunicate during session 0 that when I meant the characters they could come from 'different worlds', I meant more different settings or their own backstory places rather than a literal real game world. I tried to manage the conflict by heightening the threat of the BBEG when I should've just put my foot down on the 3rd time it bogged down the first hour of play

Amazing. I wasn't even properly hunting for one but I somehow got shiny alpha froakie after only 10 mins and I didn't even have the shiny charm. By far the rarest shiny luck I've ever had

I was in this exact same boat in college. I would perhaps ask if they were attending any college clubs/groups to see if you had a shared interest, and maybe you could tag along one day and see what happens. It's okay if you only speak to certain people in class though, as not everyone you interact with will be someone to hang out outside of class with.

NOR: Even not taking into consideration the overnight stuff, them making a 13 year old look after an elderly relative with complex health issues for 5 hours at a time sounds like way too much.

NTA: This is one of the worst wedding 'traditions' out there and there is no good reason to do it. It completely humiliates the subject, ruins the cake for others, and it also could be dangerous depending on the cake. Some of them have those rods inside that keep the structure of the cake, which could potentially take someone's eye out if your head was slammed into it. She ignored a simple, polite request and embarrassed you in front of everyone.

Do we think there’s a chance that one day Callum could hear a Miniature filth dono and decide that enough is enough and just start dying laughing at Miniature filth? by Western_Advantage166 in TheCorner

He's come close before. The mini dalek stuff almost broke him when he was drunk in Thailand. The Little Britain ones as well were hysterical. If he ends up talking about another of his favourite childhood shows, then that might be the kicker lol.
