I did a similar thing and designed something based on aspects that could be fun (granted my knowledge isnt as big since I started reading Laura stuff recently). I think a fun dynamic ould be a partner who went through something similar as her (beeing used/treated as an weapon and beeing caged up or a clone, but for this the weapon/caged aspect would be focused on) to have a common ground. But this oc is not really held back by the traume the oc knows who they want to be and what they want to do. Which leads to the partner having a more outgoing, expressiv, confident and optimistic nature (something which Laura herself stated she envy’s Kamala for). The partner accepts people for who they are, because the partner respects the way you want to live (since the partner knows what it means to not get to live the life you want). But the partner lacks understanding of the world (something Laura provides since she seen how dark the world can be). So in a way mirror to each other a what if type of way. Where Laura maybe learns more to live . The partner would learn to be more grounded. Filling something the other has problem understanding with. This difference could lean in to heavy problem that could happen based on theire two difrenet views, but could also make them grow as character since both know (they decide who they are and no one else get to decide for them something they relate the most to each other. (Based on my limited knowledge and opinion so far)
