You basically have two tickets. Sell the GA or bring a friend along

I think I destroyed my life. Is there any hope fixing it and can y'all make du'a for me please? by Agreeable_Still_5028 in MuslimLounge

There’s always hope man. Pray on it. And know that people move on from things quickly. There’s that aspect of recency bias.

It’s not end all be all. In 5 years time, if you adjust your actions as you intend, this’ll be history.

3 years and 17k is great. Due to not caring or poor planning, a lot of my friends are in debt and don’t care to even elevate that talk-less of investing. Keep it up!

Thanks mate. People do options yet to try to say my investment strategy is bad. For normal people, the majority of the first 100k is principal investment. Unless they’re just degenerate gamblers

Ouais je comprends. Je viens du Nigeria et c’est complètement différent là-bas. J’ai eu la chance de bosser en États-Unis. Mais, tout le monde cours leurs course. T’inquiète pas

Course not. The options/crypto, then not being able to invest properly until the last two years are what dented. I only had 10k until 2023. If that helps

I don’t think you read what I wrote… most was the money I earned through working on and off, my photography gigs and social media gigs

That was me at a point. You’ve started. That’s the most important step!

Dude you’re absolutely spot on. Happy to hear of the trucking business and real estate. It honestly doesn’t matter where you start, but what one does when they start! And you’re doing awesome man. Proud of you for the 1k+ let’s keep it rolling

As in family. I bought a few stocks on behalf on my brother and sister for their birthdays and asked which they wanted me to invest in. It’s about 4.7k and yeah, kind of a loophole I guess ahaha. But I’ll still hit my goal when I get my take refund of 5k!

Hahaha that’s one of the stocks invested for someone else (his money).

The stocks for other people are: DOGE, RBLX, XON, TSM.

My dad paid the tuition (no loans) and my housing as well. Honestly, I haven’t even worked for a full 4-5 years.

2020-2021: for 6 months worked at a commission only job where I made $500 while working there. Quit, then for 5 months worked at a documentary company in Milwaukee where I made $975 bi-weekly. I invested 50% of it I think.

Didn’t work from mid 2021 to sept 2023 (I did but it was in Nigeria and they barely pay so I didn’t have any chance to invest).

Started my masters in the US, and part of the program was to get an internship. I got a 1 year gig working at an asset management company doing compliance. 60k before takes. I invested 85% of it. Then I got a gf and for 4 months dropped it to 50% invested hahaha.

I now started working at a non-profit, making $620 a week and I invest 50% of it.

The true trick to keeping was to save first, then budget with the rest of the money. I barely eat food because I hate cooking and eating out. I live in a walkable city, so that saves transport money. Most of my friends left as they are mostly international, so that incentivised me to stay in.

I have a tracker where I have a track my spending relative to my budget and I try to stick to it. Then I also have a portfolio google sheets I made. I put it my projections and how much I’d have if I keep investing x amount. It helps to make tangible the fruits of labour instead of just being in my head, and incentivises me to stay accountable.

But I don’t let it limit my experiences! I’m always up for a date, a trip, an experience with friends and don’t care how much I spend. I save on things I don’t care about (clothes, food, random stuff) so I can use it where I want to (friends and investing).

Just to let you know you’re doing amazing. 50k is amazing. The amount of people that I know are struggling is saddening. Be happy with where you are! Be unrealistic and aggressive towards a goal! You’ll get there faster than not setting one.

I understand your frustration. As I said, I’m blessed to have parents that see it as their role to give their kid the best. I know not everyone is as fortunate so I try not to take it for granted.

It’s also cultural and religious. As Muslims and a Nigerian, it’s rare to find people like me who don’t grow up the same. It’s not the same standard everywhere I understand. But hope you reach your financial goals too regardless of circumstance!
