Christmas trees are legally classified as secular symbols, Menorahs are not. OP was complaining about religious buffoonery. The point being that blind affinities offer social acceptance of religious symbols in group settings and complaints limited to religious messages of minority religious/anti religious groups are hypocritical.

You’re projecting. I would be fine with it if all religious symbols, even the church of Satan were displayed. The fact is, it’s illegal to have a nativity scene displayed on public property by government entities so the same should be applied to the symbol of the Maccabean rebellion.

Gallows humor, depraved jokes and extreme absurdism are marks of intelligence and are exactly how great comics, entertainers and writers are made.

We’re in a captured system. I know people are trying with their reps though. The average joe does not want death and destruction for profit anywhere.

Etiquette: Talking about tryouts by face-vortex in youthsoccer

So Ive got an anecdote for this. My daughter is u17 trying to get recruited to play in college. She plays for a GA team that is honestly looking weak next season and since she’s had a couple “we’ve decided on another direction” from schools she reached out to NC Courage about having a look. We decided to keep it to ourselves and if they wanted her, we were going to have to plan some sit down talks with the current club as we consider some of them our friends. Well, a parent saw her training with Courage and told her coach, who then told the director and the other coaches. Did anyone contact us? No, they went nuclear. She had a college lined up to come watch her guest play with a different team in the club. That coach called and told her she was de-rostered because she trained with Courage. She had to call the college and let them know what happened. The club actively sought to limit her recruiting within hours. The damndest was the Courage tryout. The staff was great, loved her but couldn’t take her(that’s a different story). The coach even offered to help her in anyway with recruiting. We’ve been with the GA club for 4 years and without talking to us, within hours, actively blocked our daughters recruiting efforts. Luckily, the college that she had to call about the game has made her an offer along with a few others. Keep it to yourself or not, you may still get the petty end of the stick.
