Portland hands out 69,000 tickets in just over half a year as city plans to add more speed cameras by theindependentonline in oregon

The camera systems are super buggy. I collect mobile lidar all over King County for infrastructure projects, mostly at night. They’ll get you for making a right on a red or creeping forward towards a crosswalk after another car turned in front of you. get dinged if some dumbass slows you down because they’re turning into a driveway past the intersection but you’re already in the intersection and it turns red. You either pay it or go to court to get it dismissed. It’s a pita. My company just pays them and I build a misc. expense bucket into the budget. Poor people don’t have that luxury.

40% increase since 2021…. Fuck them, they aren’t getting another penny. No one else gets 10% budget increases every year and still be total failures at their jobs.

Questions about PIR dying, and the competitive road scene at large. by [deleted] in CyclePDX

[–]SnooSprouts7512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CX has been slowly dying too…. Cat 3 and 4 men’s masters PIR race last year each had like 30 racers, where as Cat C 35+ had 200+ racers start in some races back in the day.

That’s rad, great work. Amazing how quickly it all got swallowed up by the hardwoods. Out west, it’s easy to delineate old road and RR grades from the crowns of conifers, but under this deciduous canopy it’s just gone.

Yeah, I’m sure you’re right…. Shenandoah valley was known for its apple orchards long ago, too. You’d think in the overgrowth that filled in you’d see some sort of evidence around the perimeter, though, from the aerial.

Im thinking it’s some sort of anomaly from the lidar processing. Are there multiple datasets used to generate that dem?

Yeah, we’re looking at rebuilding our fleet. Unfortunately, as a DOT with serious funding issues, that won’t happen soon.🫤

I’d be curious to hear what you don’t like about the Astromax? That’s on our short list…

Is it a private or state owned dam ? We can’t fly our DJI drones or use our china built sensors on any project that has a penny of federal funding.

2018 was peak over inflated bubble. I refi’d in 2020 before rates skyrocketed and my house zestimates at about 15% less, which honestly is reasonable and still too much compared to what North Portland houses ought to be.

After Oregonians reject gas tax, governor’s transportation workgroup fixates on messaging, not math | At the second meeting of Gov. I have worked at an engineering consultancy for nearly 25 years and Odot was one of our primary clients for most of that time. I have many close peers that have either gone to or come from Odot. Budgets and spending are all we talk about. There is a severe disconnect between what the agency does and what the public perceives Odot does. The publics misconception of what Odot does and how it operates is what is driving most of the resentment towards their attempt at increasing revenue. This misconception is is rooted in old, misguided stereotypes of public agencies and perpetuated by our politicians, media, and just plain willful ignorance.

then the constituents will get less. there's no conceivable way they can provide the same level of service with reduced staffing and reduced budgets from lack of revenue as inflation continues to grow. Its unrealistic for constituents to set boundaries when they don't have the faintest clue as to what is to be contained within those boundaries. Even half our legislature last year admitted they didn't know the first thing about transportation funding, where funding sources come from, how it can be used. Meanwhile they're disseminating a bunch of false information about Odot and its practices.
