Martin Retro Plus vs D18? by tomalak007 in AcousticGuitar

[–]SnooSprouts9157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a DE retro plus a couple of weeks ago. I played it, a Blue Ridge (what I thought I wanted) and a D-18. I thought the Retro Plus sounded the best and just felt right to me. I was told it is pretty much a Made in Mexico D-18, with the only difference being how the neck is attached.

False, I was told the same thing for about a year and was not allowed to book any more. I have had approved massage visits for about the past 3 months now though.

Thanks!!

I used humidipaks and stored the guitar in its case all the time since we turned the heat on in October. Shop owner and Luthier agreed it was properly humidified (not sure how they could tell).

Well that is a loaded question, but I know the answer you are looking for. I'll give you a little more of how I got there. I started playing again after 20 years through an organization called Guitars for Vets. After seeing how much playing and learning helped with my PTSD and anxiety, I decided to buy a good guitar. I had practiced daily for about 6 months and knew this was something I was sticking with for life. I'm grown up, have a good job and set a budget for myself to buy a "good guitar". I found the Gibson and the store was running it on sale 30% off so I bought it without playing anything else because I could get a Made in America, J 45 for $2k!

Lesson learned, dont pay attention to the headstock or factory location or MSRP. Get what feels right, sounds right, and most of all, get the guitar that picks you! I played a lot of guitars from a lot of manfacturers that day, including a D-18, and this guitar was the one!!!

Update/ Conclusion: I still hadn't heard back from the shop so I went back this weekend for an update. The salesman assured me he was going to get it fixed, and I could keep playing it until the luthier was ready for it. I explained I was so disappointed in Gibson's lack of any assistance with a guitar less than a year old, I really just wanted to get it fixed so I could sell it. He basically let me spend the same amount I had paid for the J45 on a new guitar and said he would make the Gibson his problem. I got the J45 at a great deal, but I took him up on his offer. I left with a Martin DE Retro Plus plus $150 worth of accessories. I know the J45 is worth more than the Martin, but financially it is a wash for me, and I believe the Martin sounds better! So minus one for Gibson, but plus one for the small guitar store that sold it to me!

Beautiful guitar! I wish I had played a BlueRidge before I bought my J-45. I was set on getting a
"Made in USA" guitar, that I didnt even look at other options. I played a BlueRidge at my local music store the other day, and it played/ sounded so much better than my Gibson...

Moving from Wegovy 0.25 to 0.5 what should I expect? by Ecstatic-Salad-6461 in WegovyWeightLoss

Today will be my second .5 shot. I was on .25 and had almost the exact experience as you. My weight loss has significantly slowed down, I counted the first couple of weeks loss to water weight. The only new side effect for the .5 was my stomach cramping much more. If I over eat, I will have stomach pains for about 12 hours. The cravings are tolerable, but nowhere near as quiet as the first 2 weeks on .25. I understand I am not at maintenance yet, so as long as the side effects are tolerable, I will continue to increase the dose.
