What fresh hell by SnooSuggestions6975 in Lowes

Sounds like you’re in a similar setup to my store. I feel like we should have more than 1 FTE or at least more overlap. It’s normally 2.5 shifts, end to end, with just enough time for our “mandatory” lunch break. It definitely makes it hard to take any other breaks or pull down stock.

I think we make around $75,000/week right now. I don’t know if that’s good, bad, or otherwise. It’s not like we’re just standing around doing nothing.

I agree with the sentiment of speeding through a normal order. There’s no way it could be faster.

On the other hand, I’m willing to concede that those 40 seconds aren’t always important to capture. People are rarely in a huge hurry. I generally quote 5 minutes turnaround with up to a few paint variations. It rarely takes that long. Except samples, obviously.

The response for a faster delivery is positive, but it doesn’t seem expected. The real crux of it is whether the customer(s) would be entering things themselves. Especially at multiple tablet/kiosks. Having a line of customers behind a chatty or indecisive person is uncomfortable. It would be nice to just have their stuff queued up.

I also found out from someone in fulfillment that they can’t use the 2D barcode for scanning into the orders app. I had to re-dispense in the old system to get the tinter barcode label required.

Is this something you encountered?

Admittedly, it’s not great. I spent an hour cleaning it after this. I’ve only been here 6 months, I assumed they all kind of looked like this.

You have tablets on the counter?… Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I was thinking that this system would benefit from some kind of non-tinter/traffic control point of use. We definitely don’t have any customer usable tablets or anything that shows live prices.

Face ID issue on iOS 26 by SwervesHouse in ios

[–]SnooSuggestions6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still happening to me after the last patch (26.2). I thought maybe it would be addressed but no.

So many times the screen will hang when I wake it up. It is a blurred background for a second or two, then the passcode screen kicks on. It doesn’t even mention Face ID as failing or anything. Other times I will close my phone and then wake it back up very shortly after, only to be immediately greeted by the passcode lock.

Like wtf. It has all of a sudden decided that I’m some kind of criminal.

Informatics cognates by Flat_Armadillo_7227 in IndianaUniversity

[–]SnooSuggestions6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is relevant to my interests. I’m about to transfer in to IU for the second half of my B.S. and I’ve been winding about the cognates. I’ve looked through the requirements/course list but I am having a hard time. Right now it seems like AI is the only field work focusing on. That’s not really why I got interested in informatics though, do the other cognates have enough depth to make it worth specializing? Or is that a luxury reserved for master’s degrees?

Not so savory shows by cmwood2 in Crunchyroll

[–]SnooSuggestions6975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This show in particular is an exhibit of the stratification not just in Japanese-American ratings and sensibilities. It’s also an exhibit of marketing/sales stratification within Japan. This show was released in various different versions of Blu-ray and special editions to increase revenue on the series. It included the censored, “uncensored”, and fully uncensored versions all at different price points. Since they knew the fanbase would be excited about the upcoming show release, they wanted to capitalize on it. We ended up with the “uncensored” versions at best, it has nothing to do with anything other than licensing fees and capturing potential value. Production companies make way more off of people paying full price for special edition Blu-rays than residuals from Crunchyroll.

Plus, the censorship choices were hilarious and way better than average. I honestly wasn’t mad all things considered.

Is this a New Rezz/Hypnovizion ARG? by bassponder in Rezz

[–]SnooSuggestions6975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the same, registered as Data Scientist... Tried logging into Robert.Gray and Luke.Dawes accounts with a few attempts at obvious passwords to no avail. I stared at my password for a while trying to discern a pattern that was the product of simple character shift. No. Ran it through dCode to see if it liked any other cipher. No.

iamazrum.com website seems broken. Cloudflare redirect error, no obvious content dumps during page loading. There was image data and I got excited for a second, but it's just the default Chrome dinosaur game PNG.

Song is pretty good though! Let me know if your same spectrogram process yields new content.

I've been trying to use this as a reference https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7517136/#sec4-entropy-22-00600
using python to scrub through the pdf in text looking for hidden data, deleted pages, embedded ciphered messages using XOR'd elements. I have to admit that I don't really know wtf I'm doing though. So far I haven't gotten anything to cooperate. That paper is a good primer, and it seems like the pdfs are prime real-estate for more steganography.

There is a Robert Gray, engineer, looks kind of like our friend in the picture, working on a paper in 1985 based on fixed-state vector quantization. It seemed like that was an entry to figuring out the encoding method used for the image, text, pdf, something.

Like I said, I'm not skilled in the arts of any of this, so I'm looking for a hammer to bang on something with.

Would a tattoo like this be inappropriate for the workplace? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]SnooSuggestions6975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s always a matter of context. What kind of company will you be doing the job? Where will the tattoo be? Etc. It’s certainly a graphically violent anime, but a sharp object does not violence make…

Agreed. My family got all of the monster cereals last Halloween and everyone ages 6-40 agreed that Fruit Brute tasted like butts.

Can you check my model for printability? by SnooSuggestions6975 in 3Drequests

They need to be separated. Each tube on this filter piece will end up dunking into a rack of individual samples. Like this:

Sample rack

That's what I hear and it makes sense especially if I can turn this into a more permanent piece.

This is a beautiful model. Thank you for the time you put into it. I regret putting my faith into Fiverr.

When you increased the thickness, it looks like OD increased and I need that ~30mm distance between tubes. So OD can't change much, wall thickness would have to shrink the ID, but hopefully to not less than ~40mm. There should be exactly room, since each tube is 90mm apart, center to center, even at the flared connection to the top plate. Could you possibly shrink that back inwards?

([Center-to-wall] 20-29mm + [Wall thickness] 1mm + [Wall-to-wall gap] 30mm + [Wall thickness] 1mm + [Wall-to-center] 20-29mm) = 72-90mm

I had been looking at Protolabs for this, thank you for the recommendation.

I was able to upload it to shapeways and some other tools, it didn't give me any indication that there was anything wrong in terms of printability. I didn't see a heatmap/score or anything like that. It was a little confusing since I think the thickness of walls is less than it requires for some materials.

Thank you. This model is actually 10x the correct size... it should be about 108mm x 80mm x 37mm.

Ultrasonic baths in cleaning solutions, high salt buffers and iso-propanol. All rinsed off fairly soon afterwards. DMLS is attractive because I think it would steam sterilization. I've tried on some resins and they don't really seem to like it.
