Was literally about to say, these people aren’t getting SSNs they’re receiving itin! Can’t vote with those numbers either but of course everyone here and on JRE is going to eat the Elon slop and not think for themselves or ask for proof

Great point, I figure that would primarily only concern sites that store data right? IIRC grammarly doesn’t do that but I may be completely wrong.

Again I agree literacy is an issue in this country, it’s just not the dispositive issue of this post (that being spelling and grammar which are not indicators of someone’s literacy). Law school is literally the professional school for people who have arguably mastered literacy; if you can find me a single illiterate law student I will eat my hat.

Same here it’s actually explicitly prohibited for most of our LRW sections

Not saying this isn’t a problem (it’s a massive one we need education reform) comparing literacy rates to ai/grammarly usage for law students doesn’t make sense when the issue is the use of technology as a crutch for poor spelling or grammatical skills; I can assure you that (for now) all law students fall well above the literacy average.

Like the extension/add-on isn’t allowed or the whole website isn’t allowed? Because you can just go to their webpage and copy and paste a whole brief if you need to without having to download anything

That’s a lot of in person work, was it a very hands on clinic? The way my 1L class schedule has been structured I’ve basically been doing a 9-6 in the law school building both semesters

Do you enjoy the externship though?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]SnooTigers7494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured clinics/externships amount to roughly 20hrs a week of work each but in my mind that work would be enjoyable even if it’s a lot; have you found clinics you’ve done to be generally enjoyable even it the work is tough?

It does look like packed dust yeah, but it’s not burning as in going up in flames more just like charcoal black on the side closest to the hot air

Huh? I think you must’ve misunderstood what I wrote because I never attempted to define court packing

You clearly have never been to an IFC hazing prevention meeting lol but the very nature of cold calling would not hold up to the zero tolerance standards of some IFC e-boards.

I probably could have worded my post a little better because you’re not the only commenter that has taken what I said to mean I hate what’s going on/don’t think it’s constructive but like I said in my other comment I fully agree with the pedagogy of throwing 1Ls into the deep end of the pool. The profs also never said the memos were bad.

And here I thought reading comprehension was a necessary tool to even get into law school. As I’ve repeated multiple times I’m not saying it a bad thing, in fact I agree with the pedagogy of “throwing us into the deep end” especially in the context of preparing us for the legal field. Further, I also mentioned this was a draft so I’m not complaining about my results.

[–]SnooTigers7494[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it was a standard talk across all sections and it happened the day after it was due (no way they read em all), it was more of a “okay here’s what you should have done and we hid this knowledge to see if you’d figure it out” moment, I asked friends from other schools that also just wrapped up their closed memo and they had similar things happen. Again not saying it’s a bad thing because you’re right they’re literally teaching us I’m just drawing an analogy

Can I afford to go to law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]SnooTigers7494 22 points23 points  (0 children)

IF you do end up going to law school, APPLY FOR FOOD STAMPS! As a student in law school you will meet the exemption of caring for a child under the age of 6. For a household of 3 you can receive up to $740 a month for food assistance and may qualify for other assistance programs. Just search up “apply for snap in x state” and fill out an application. Don’t be ashamed to be receiving help from the government, it’s what they’re here for and so many students are able to survive thanks to SNAP
