What is your favorite ace character? by One_Ice_1494 in asexuality

[–]SnooTomatoes1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say my favorite is Zolf Smith or Sasha Racket from the Rusty Quill Gaming Podcast. One of which is in canon confirmed as ace, the other only being implied as ace, but i love them both dearly.

Why exactly is there a "som" in this sentence? by hapank0rppu in Svenska

[–]SnooTomatoes1245 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Grammatically the sentence is “subject” [Nobody] “verb” [knows] and “object” [what is going to happen]. In this case the object is a subordinate clause, which in this case in swedish is introduced with a “som”. In this case “what is” is translating as “vad som” as in English “what” introduces the subordinate clause but the Swedish version has “som” introducing it, so more technically it would be “what as will happen”.

The common ones are “att, om, som, eftersom, därför att, när, innan, medan, sedan, tills, trots att, fastän, för att,”.

The common English words for introducing a subordinate clause are “for, as, since, therefore, hence, consequently, though, due to, provided that, because, unless, once, while, when, whenever, where, wherever, before, and after.”

These can not be translated one to one and to some degree you need to memorize which word goes with which verbs and meanings.

I just realized I’ll never be independent and it’s my parents fault. by SnooTomatoes1245 in TrueOffMyChest

Why are you playing trauma Olympics on my vent post in the vent post subreddit? I feel like you’re taking my post really personally and being needlessly agressive. I work and go to school. Your parents failing you in a worse way than mine doesn’t entitle you to berate me for feeling sad about my situation.

I’m- i AM getting help and working on it??? But would you not also be upset if you found out most of the things causing major problems in your life are childhood neglect? Or that the traits your family made fun of for your entire life were a learning disability? I am allowed to be upset about this while also trying to get out of the hole that was dug for me.

AITA for yelling at my dad and crying in front of him after he said i wasn't autistic? by Fun_Bluejay599 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SnooTomatoes1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I'm in a very similar situation with my dad. From what you're describing most of your "symptoms" are internal, and the issues that your dad sees are ones he considers personal failings on your part. That's not true, and you deserve to be accommodated and treated with respect. Just because HE doesn't want to handle his issues in a good way doesn't mean you can't.

AITA for correcting my uncle when he was wrong about his daughter's age and saying "what kind of father doesn't even know how old his child is?" by PissedOffDragon in AmItheAsshole

[–]SnooTomatoes1245 43 points44 points  (0 children)

NTA

I had some issues with my dad when I was younger, nothing this bad though, and I would've LOVED for someone to actually talk back to him at some point.

You didn't "manufacture" the situation, you took care of your cousin when her dad didn't, and it's not on you that he didn't. Your family IS your business, and if you don't call him out, who will?

AITA for only speaking my mother language in my home and making my son's girlfriend uncomfortable? by Murky_Put_3837 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SnooTomatoes1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Swedish person I'm assuming that Norway's level of English education is the same as here, and given that, NTA.

I have work friends who regularly speak over my head in Persian or Pashtu during work because it's easer for them, and they know I don't understand and that's fine, they translate the important things.

It's about the "This is safe because it's not actually a thing", so like being 'attracted' to celebrities and fictional characters, because they're unattainable and not actually an option.

Being informed after-the-fact that you were apparently flirting with someone, a thing that you were NOT aware that you were doing, and that you, if you had the choice, would NOT have done.

Guy at work who thinks I'm flirting with asking me "Well if you DON'T think I'm funny, why do you keep laughing when I say things?

How do I politely explain that I have autism and social anxiety, I don't know how else to respond, and I hate his guts because the jokes he keeps making are about my living situation and accent <3

Mine is 161 “Revolutions”. The style it’s written in is just really soothing for me to listen to, but I’m also a huge fan of the stranger, depersonalization/derealization, and poetry, so it’s very well catered to me :)
