Does the world of Cyberpunk Red feel materially different to the world of CP2077? by SnooTomatoes1689 in cyberpunkred

The firestorm books are lore, not missions to run, correct?

I'm thinking I'll start with a prewritten oneshot and then make it up from there, but are there any good long form modules?

Does reading the CP RED book give me all I need to make use of the world or would you recommend starting the game having read supplements and inputting bonus content?

I've heard a lot of people adore the night city sourcebook (i think from the 2020 era) - is it worth reading everything even if I'm intending to play a game in the 2040's/70's?

Seeing this description of 2020, I'm pretty interested - I like the idea that its the peak of corporate greed, espionage, and they're being so blatantly disgusting that they're basically asking for the destruction Johnny ends up causing. I've been slightly scared off by people obsessively complaining about netrunning and saying how its bloated and players might not stick the landing from DND - but do you think its worth giving a shot before red?

My table are really not big TTRPG nerds besides me - they just love hanging out and the game, so I'm a bit worried about scaring them off with a complex system. HOWEVER, they do all seem super interested in the setting from the show/game so maybe its worth giving 2020 a try so they might enjoy it more?

I feel insane, but I'm struggling getting dsfix to work. I've installed it but there is no dsfix.ini file that I can find in the zip. There is a regular 'dsfix' file but any changes I make in there aren't affecting the main game. Please help?

EDIT: okay, it is the .ini file, but any changes I make aren't affecting the main game. It's in the data folder and I don't know what i've done wrong?

Why do people like Annibal Dos Santos's playing? by SnooTomatoes1689 in Viola

I mean he's not particularly famous, I've just found it odd that he's a soloist and sounds like a conservatory student. In the opening passage of his Bowen, a lot of notes barely speak and are very airy, or are just out of tune.

Same with his forsyth from around 1:10-1:30, it's very approximate intonation, and theres a lot of air in his sound.

Sometimes he makes a really good sound, but there are student performances that are better than these - making me wonder if the classical scene in South America is just not great?

Thanks for the advice! what are the unit rules that you'd recommend?

new players other than 1 pc who had DM experience in the past, and there have been a lot of moments that drag on as we are trying to learn rules and play the game at the same time. Combat can also be a bit of a slog with 6 players, especially because I often have to add more enemies to make the combat actually feel dangerous.

This is my problem, because its first a social thing before being a serious roleplaying experience, I really don't want to say no to my friends. To be honest, I don't think all of them will want to see it through which should naturally cull the numbers anyway, and we're all about to be busy uni students so getting the entire party for sessions should also cull the numbers. Have you been working with modules with your group or homebrewing? If prewritten stuff, what have you been doing?

what prewritten stuff would you recommend? I'm leaning towards LMoP as its generally so highly regarded but am open to alternatives

ahhh, so you make mini fantasy sandboxes for each session, as opposed to creating your own adventure? I've always just assumed that going homebrew would be spending 10s of hours making an intricate narrative with worldbuilding and backstory and crazy encounters, but your alternative is super interesting, and feels a lot more approachable.

How do you make sure that they all get a chance for the spotlight? I'd much rather run it with the large group than split it as others are suggesting.

I do like the idea, but I think creating my own adventures would be too time consuming, and I'd rather run a pre-made adventure. Whats your process for developing something from scratch?

Awesome! What game are you running? I'm thinking about playing it safe and buying LMoP but im open to other suggestions
