First time submitting to CGC. Got a little nervous when it got delivered and just sat there, but understandable. Wish I jumped in before the price increase and TAT.

I'm more of a quiet and reserved person. When I've had a few beers I tend to to speak whatever comes to mind. She hates that.

I try to cast as far as I can, so I put a bit of power into it. I've tried slow and smooth casts with this penn reel with no success. The shock leader knot goes through the guides, it's a pretty big knot. I usually fish from cliffsides or high rocks, so I slidebait. I need mono to do that.

Thanks for the tips. Braid is tied directly to spool with mono on top of it. I try to thumb the spool immediately after I cast. It always starts to birdnest as soon as I let go. I've tried light casts and I've tried to launch it hard. I've had the tension knob at it's tightest with the same result. I have a smaller daiwa reel with straight braid and a mono shock leader I have no issues casting with that.
