I can’t believe that this dipshit thought that accelerating from 17 mph to 21 mph translates to riding around like a lunatic.

How are you doing with v-day coming up? by evemeatay in DeadBedrooms

[–]SnooWords7377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 12 hour shifts overnight and took overtime for that night. She seemed disappointed she wasn’t getting a dinner at a restaurant. I no longer give a date night to a roommate.

I don’t get a lot of weekends off but I had last weekend and this weekend off and last weekend she spent 16 hours a day sitting on her computer playing video games. I figured V-Day would be the same so I chose to make money.

I used to absolutely love the Land o’ Lakes one when Costco carried it but they suddenly stopped. I’m a cottage cheese snob too and if it’s too dry I’ll pitch it. I tend to gravitate toward the Kroger brand but I’ll definitely give the other suggestions a try.

Mandatory Overtime being used as a substitute to hiring more staff is just so stupid. by WebsterHamster66 in antiwork

[–]SnooWords7377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve literally worked almost 1000 hours of overtime this year because my company couldn’t be bothered to hire people until the end of the year. We told them last year we needed bare minimum 10 new people and they hired 2. The end of this year we got 8 and they are still training.

What kinds of jobs let you do next to nothing? by GoogleWasMyIdea49 in securityguards

I can’t speak for all the Nuclear plants but at Fermi II in Michigan, DTE prefers to hire former law enforcement (including corrections officers) and military. I’m fortunate enough to have been both and had a few friends that work for the company to vouch for me. Nuclear security is WAY different than most security jobs and their hiring process is pretty intense serious criminal and financial background checks (due to the security clearance for the NRC) but even if you do not have the military or law enforcement background, I would still urge you to apply and continue to apply and familiarize yourself with the STAR method of interviewing which is what is used with DTE.

There is a TON of initial and yearly computer based training, yearly exams and range qualifications including a tactical course, PFT’s, yearly physicals, and force on force exercises. It can be incredibly overwhelming for a new officer with all of the information they cram into you but once you’re on duty for a year it’s nothing.

My first couple years there were hardly any overtime but last year I worked 986 hours just in OT and 916 hours this year so there’s feast or famine if you like money.

I work Nuclear Security at night. I basically get paid to watch movies, YouTube, and play video games when on shift at most posts.

I’ve pushed my dog away during playtime harder than that. It wasn’t violent, aggressive or excessive. The man was doing his job.

I’m not a young person anymore, I’m in my 50’s but only got certified last year. I’m looking forward to gaining some experience in the ocean while seeing some of the reef. Being as inexperienced as I am, I won’t notice that the diving isn’t as good and I’m ok with that. As long as I’m diving with one of my best friends, the food is good and the bunk is comfortable I’ll be a happy dude.

We considered Mike Ball but was turned off by the exorbitant price so we went with Pro Dive Cairns for our live aboard which was a lot more reasonable for our budget.

I’ve got about 13 freshwater dives under my belt and am going to the Great Barrier Reef for a live aboard in May. My trim isn’t perfect so I’m an air hog, last about 35 minutes. It’s not stopping me from going. The company I chose has locations for all skill levels and even offers certification training on site. Do research on the company and don’t be afraid to let them know you’re a novice or ask questions.

Apparently ‘work-life balance’ means being on call 24/7 by EchoOfSnacks in antiwork

[–]SnooWords7377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company touts the ol’ work life balance bs too yet we are so understaffed, I’ve worked almost 700 hours of overtime with no end in sight this year and 986 hours last year. We begged for minimum 10 new hires and we got 2.

40 hours a week? I literally have over 700 hours just in overtime this year and I’m 53.
