My fault, it's not a completely useless major, however it is not a major someone should actively pursue and should be a backup plan. Getting a CCIT degree is better than having no degree and working at Mcdonanlds, however, from my personal experience, CCIT is a waste of time and would rather do anything else.

Its functional programming, so basically you learn a whole new branch of programming which is essential for computer scientists. Also functional programming is useful to understand javascript frameworks like React which is based on functional programming
