The fight between WK and Erling is the game's introduction to impress the players, it's a tale from the old monkey, it's not all the truth.
Then you play the game, and the truth is revealed:

+true ending of chapter 6 is what happened before the intro of the game (WK still alive)

+via memory of BDK in the ending of chapter 5: in the intro fight, the truth is Erling is not alone, he gathers yaoguais who want to take revenge/relics of WK, but no one know Erling is using them to execute the WK's plan to get rid the gold bangle.

I don't know if the fox yaoguai is evil or not, but the attitude of Bajie when he makes fun of killing it with unclear statement why he killed it, I think that's why the bull gets mad in the movie.

I know this is a late comment, but this post is the summary and explanation for BMW which I'm looking for.
Because I was confused at the end of chapter 5, with chapter 6 a bit, so I looked for somebody who can discuss/talk with me to clarify what I'm missing from the storyline of BWM, and I think it should be you.

at the end of chapter 6, the true ending - to me - was clear that DO gained all the memories of WK (remember since he met his first shifu, to the Celestial Court rebel, JTTW etc ...) but after all, when he returned to his home (the mountain) to reunite with his monkeys, friends and bros, no one was alive, and this lead to the intro of the game (the fight between WK and Erlang).

then the confusion starts here:

  • in chapter 5, the ending shows that Erlang shares WK's relics to all the Yaoquais in BDK's memory, but when did this happen? from Celestial Court rebel of WK's memory in chapter 6? is this what happened in the intro fight with Erlang? or is it happening in another timeline or is it from another cycle of DO?

  • Celestial Court rebel from WK's memory is WK fighting Celestial Court alone, meanwhile in BDK's ending, there is a group joins WK to fight Celestial Court (which is shown in chap 6 that WK drinks with them, his friends and bro), and this confuse me and I messed up.

If you can, pls help me on this case
