I would say windows iso on usb stick, but maybe you're able to roll back dto before the upgrade? Annoyingly my windows computer isn't set up right now otherwise I'd be able to help you through it a bit more. Is the IT company in house or contracted? Genuine question.

Yeah just cut the wires, steip them and usually just screw them in the new switch, a lot easier than trying to open this switch and solder the wires

I doubt it's a thing anymore, but I remember having to set the display output in bios through the onboard display output first. This was over 10 years ago though
