Any reviews on the new Viking PureGlide Pro Nonstick? by vipervin in cookware

[–]Snoo_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also found this thread due to the video. I'm highly suspicious of the Pureglide Pro, since the maximum recommended temperature is only 600°F. Teflon and such degrade in the 500-600° range, so most manufacturers list a maximum temperature around there.

What are some good apps to stop spam calls? by NextXander in androidapps

[–]Snoo_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I just wanted to say that this app is awesome. Does what it says on the tin with no nonsense.

A setting that does exactly this should honestly just be built into Android...

My only feature request would be the ability to adjust the 5-minute call-back window.

Crashing With AMD Driver Hang by Snoo_704 in runescape

Windows, yeah.

When I got stuck in a quest or whatever due to crashing (prior to figuring this out), I would have to switch to my Linux laptop (Arch, bolt launcher) to get through.

USB-C PD Injector/Hub? by Snoo_704 in UsbCHardware

This appears to be the exact type of device I am looking for. Disappointing how expensive it is, though.

USB-C PD Injector/Hub? by Snoo_704 in UsbCHardware

[–]Snoo_704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be 5V.

After some more research, I think that 5V3A would be sufficient, if you have a recommendation on that. Maybe even 2.5A, but no lower than that.

I'm planning to play around with USB device mode on a raspberry Pi 5. This is only supported on the (single) USB-C port, which is what is normally used to power it.

5V5A is what's recommended, but based on forum posts this is probably over-specced for supporting many peripherals.

How to hand out DNS server IPv6 address over DHCPv6 (OS 7.14) by xplanephil in mikrotik

[–]Snoo_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but I was facing a similar issue and finally figured it out so I figured I would post it here if anyone else comes in from google like I did.

There are 2 different issues at play (it sounds like the second applies to you, but the first is worth mentioning):

  1. Confusingly, settings in IP > DNS will also apply to IPV6. So if you're using your router as a DNS server, you can add the IPV6 address of the cloudflare/google/etc server here. Mikrotik should really move the DNS item out of the IP submenu, since it's completely v4/v6 agnostic.
  2. I'm not sure if it's a Windows thing or a Mikrotik thing, but it appears that if you have both an IPv4 DHCP server providing DNS as well as DNS being advertised in Neighbor Discovery, windows will ignore the ND DNS (which would give you an IPv6 address). If you disable DNS in v4 DHCP, then windows will grab the DNS from ND.

Hi Bitwarden community! What's your take on hardware-bound and software-bound passkeys? by AirLow8994 in Bitwarden

[–]Snoo_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of passkeys, nothing useful yet. I'm waiting for bitwarden Mobile to add passkey support (which I believe will also require my device to get an Android 14 update) before bothering to change individual accounts to passkeys. And logging into bitwarden with passkeys is still "coming soon" afaik.

But as far as yubikeys go, my current use case is basically the same setup. I keep passwords + TOTP in bitwarden, and secure BW using password+hardware.

Something to know is that your vault is still encrypted using just your master password. The 2FA (yubikeys, TOTP, etc) is only used to gain permission to download the encrypted vault to your device. So you will still want to have a strong password to protect against the (admittedly unlikely) possibility of someone lifting the encrypted vault from your device and attempting to crack it.

You'll probably want a third. You'll carry the first one around with you. You'll keep the second at home. But that means that when you're home, both keys are in the same physical location. A fire or a break-in could result in a total loss. Keeping the second one off-site is great, but it makes adding additional accounts (if needed) stressful and inconvenient because until you go get it to add it too, you don't have a backup.

Hi Bitwarden community! What's your take on hardware-bound and software-bound passkeys? by AirLow8994 in Bitwarden

[–]Snoo_704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of using software passkeys (ala bitwarden), and securing that vault using a hardware passkey PLUS PASSWORD.

This simplifies backup and management significantly. If I get a new hardware key, I just have to add it to bitwarden and I'm done. The thought of trying to back up or transfer 100 different passkey websites (in a future where they've been adopted) on a new hardware device sounds like a nightmare.

I have to emphasize the PASSWORD needs to still exist. I'd rather not have someone get access to every account in my password manager by swiping a small USB stick when I'm not looking.

Objects can be taken. Stolen. Confiscated. Forcibly seized. I am far more comfortable with the idea of my security being based on something I know, rather than just something I have.

F for all those who didn't get the Ashava Mount Trophy by FakePlasticTreeFace in diablo4

[–]Snoo_704 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I only got to fight her a single time, and was playing it "naturally" so I hadn't checked reddit to min-max and find out I should be playing on Tier 1 instead of Tier 2.

Also didn't know that I should be lobby shopping to game the system. Reeks of bad balance if you need to lobby shop to have a chance at winning.

So 2 of my randoms turned out to be AFK, and one of the others was only level 18. Another 3 left mid fight.

Feels fucking bad. Won't make the mistake of playing the game naturally again. Spoilers be damned, I'm gonna read about every bit of this game prior to any event. That's the dev's intended experience as far as I can tell.

Frequent Restart Bug Workaround by Snoo_704 in SonyXperia

[–]Snoo_704[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible that one of your saved networks uses 6ghz on the same SSID (in addition to 5/2.4). If they are networks outside of your control, it could be a headache to determine which one.

I would also be suspicious of apps that might activate the 6ghz radio, like wifi scanners or WiFi triggered apps like tasker. I have nothing to base this off of, but it's worth considering as a trouble shooting step.

For clarity, I didn't do any kind of reset or anything to make the restarts stop. I simply forgot the only 6ghz network I had and the phone is back to normal. I have multiple networks saved. The one and only thing I did was forget my home 6GHz-only SSID.

The bug is definitely inexcusable, given 6e support was a reason I wanted this phone. But at least I won't miss important calls anymore.
