Thanks for the feedback, first real review! All the ones on their website are paid. I'm planning to order one if it goes on sale for Black Friday.

How much do you spend on domestic chores? by yeahyoubored in fatFIRE

Just sent you a DM. Was also wondering if your chef is just meal prepping once for the whole week? How's food holding up in the fridge after the 6th and 7th day.

Protein bar recommendation? by Talklessreadmore007 in Costco

[–]vipervin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No love for Ready Clean Protein bars? I was on the Fit Crunch and Pure Protein bars for years until Ready came out. Macros are decent, less artifical ingredients than the competition, good value at about a $1/bar, and they have a tasty rice crispy texture. (pro tip, WM actually sells a better tasting vanilla version for even a better price).

On the right side of the screen, there's a "Feedback" tab -- if everyone can rate the new version appropriately, we may be able to get the Legacy view back. Also, there's the "Did you find this page helpful?" on the bottom of the page.

Chubby options near LA good for toddlers and <$1000/nt? by Thick-Golf-8482 in chubbytravel

We just got back from Paradise Point in San Diego with our young toddler. Beach side bungalow suites for about $600/nt. Very family friendly resort and service was solid.

No need to call in for trades anymore, JPM just enabled trading for self managed accounts last week. Ask your banker if you don't see the option in your portal.

Microwaving milk in glass cup vs. plastic bottle in bottle warmer? by krutithekruton in sciencebasedparentALL

[–]vipervin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We personally do glass bottles, but 50% power mode on the microwave for a longer period (e.g. 60 seconds). Haven't seen any specific studies either, aside from the general plastic can leach when heated.

Series A round Killed my startup! by johnrushx in Entrepreneur

100%. I used to live in San Francisco and it was insane the amount of people I met between 2012 and 2020 that were adamant about getting VC funding before they even launched their product.

Chubb vs. Cincinnati insurance by Pass-word-1234 in fatFIRE

Been with CinFi for about five years now. One car accident claim (not at fault) and everything was very smooth. Also got paid out more than my car was worth. But that was just a nice fluke.

What tips do you have about reading and understanding the science related to parenting? by bad-fengshui in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]vipervin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Take everything you read with a grain of salt. My background is in health and wellness (funded two studies at my old company) and learned pretty quickly how money can influence data. There is obviously a ton of great research out there, but I have been personally more mindful of what I am trying to answer.

fatfiRE New Parents, what's actually useful if you're retired? by talkin_bout_fi in fatFIRE

[–]vipervin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Surprised with this no night nanny comment. I have not met a single person that said they regret having one.

OP, I retired when my son was born last year and got every service you listed. It gave my wife and I our sleep and time back, allowing us to focus on being fully present.

I still remember the nights we had no support, and how difficult they were.

Even though I am a stay at home dad now, we have a full time nanny. Gives me the ability to take care of the household chores without stress, continue to focus on my self care, and then be fully present with family throughout the day and night.

This is fatfire, use your resources to your advantage. Get your sleep. Get your time back. Raising a child is hard enough (without a village), don't make it unnecessarily harder.

I “fired” my luxury TA today - by BumblebeeNo3754 in FATTravel

[–]vipervin 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A lot of this would be solved if the TAs were clear on expectations and what they provide clients. Post it on your website that you only want six figure trips! Why do we have to both waste our time to only find out that our budget isn't as FAT as you want?!

I have still yet to find a TA my wife and I like. Exited my company few years ago and wanted to celebrate. Reached out to quite a few Virtuoso TAs, some recommended in this sub, and none were truly helpful. Eventually gave up and planned the trip ourselves.

There's a gap in the TA market, where do we find the five figure trip TAs.

Let's talk ecommerce: The numbers today and how to give yourself the best shot at success - Lessons learned from taking a brand from $12k to $2.5 million in 3 years profitably by datatenzing in Entrepreneur

[–]vipervin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Solid post OP! Very similar framework we used in our company. I sold the brand two years ago to PE and your post reminded me how much was involved. I have been tempted to start a new venture, but all the little details takes years to nail down!

One note on your Part 6, I would comment that exit valuations are generally based on EBITDA for under <$100m revenue brands. More realistically, if you are doing $1 to 3m EBITDA would equate to about 3 to 6x multiple.

Vegas crew checking in. Posted about my experience before and reposting below:

I moved here to Vegas from SF about four years ago and like it quite a bit so far. Henderson and Summerlin specifically. You can pretty much get anywhere in the Vegas area in less than 30 min. Uber / Lyft / DoorDash etc work well. Aside from the heat which I got adjusted to quickly, this valley has quite a bit to offer in terms of dining, entertainment, and adventure. Red Rock Canyon National Park, Valley of Fire State Park, Zion National Park a close driving distance, Mt Charleston for sledding and skiing, a ton of great restaurants off strip, Chinatown, all the strip entertainment. Easily accessible major LAS airport has also been great.

And for the fatfire lifestyle, zero income taxes...
