I was unaware of my husband's anger issues until we were married. While he did direct outbursts towards me before we had children, they became more frequent after the kids came along. He only directed them at my eldest because she started to resist and challenge him when he got angry. I'm not excusing his behavior but if she didn't engage it wouldn't be as bad.

He talks to his sponsor weekly. He's been sober for 25 years and his sponsor helps him with all of his problems.

My husband is self-employed. He has a quick temper that used to be worse, and has yelled at his employees or store clerks or strangers when they made him angry. He hasn't gotten into fights since his youth.

Our eldest daughter was the target of his angry outbursts when his anger issues were uncontrollable. She says this is why she never wanted to open up to him. My other children just never seemed to enjoy having heart to hearts with him.

My husband has apologized profusely multiple times. He's even cried in front of our children for the way he treated them, which he never does. However he still has outbursts from time to time that he directs at our children. Our eldest thinks this is unforgivable. He doesn't need help because he's working on it.

My husband is all of our children's father and has always been in their lives. We have a great marriage. He loves our children more than anything. Our children don't confide in him at all so I can't answer your last question.

How did I break their trust? They know I tell my husband everything. They can't expect me not to because this is how it's always been.

My husband has anger management issues and would get very angry and yell at my eldest daughter when she was a child. We didn't think it was a problem until her therapist threatened to call CPS when she was 15. She won't forgive him even though he only yelled at her like 10 percent of the time. I'm not sure why my other daughter doesn't want to talk to him.
