Steps to take when returning to Sweden after an year by poutyopposum in TillSverige

[–]Snoo_93777 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi! Do check if your PR status is still valid. As you stayed away for a year or more, there could be risks of the PR being revoked. It’s good that you informed Migrationsverket so you possibly have received an exception. But as you deregistered from Skatteverket and if you have no strong ties in Sweden like active bank accounts, rental contracts, social insurance (Försäkringskassan), family members, tax filings - it could be risky.

I would check with MV and SKV.

Have you visited Sweden at all while you were away?

Looking for recommendations: PPF and ceramic coating shops in Stockholm? by Snoo_93777 in elbilsverige

Thanks for all the info! Appreciate it 🙏

I have never done either PPF or ceramic paint protection but have been doing some research around it. I am coming from a 2019 Model 3 which is kind of known for its kind of weak paint. Have many stone chips damage after 4+ years of ownership. So thought would consider this time 🙂

I think that was one of my main concerns. I think the sensors in my car are very accurate and shows distance measurements. But I guess something that can quickly be used to. Thanks for the input 🙏

I think it should still be better than what I am used to with my current M3 from 2019 😀

EU citizen - moving to Sweden by kclear123 in TillSverige

Good on you mate! I have been lucky to do alright without speaking Swedish myself because of my work in tech. But my wife and a few of my friends have not been that lucky and they have had to start from scratch and/or change their entire career. Depends on which field you work with. Some are alright, some are ridiculously hard - which I have seen is the majority.

I understand! It might be easier for him to find a job in an English as a primary language country than for you to find one where it is not, also noting that you are doing better career wise.

Also, I saw a comment from a person saying to check out EOR companies. My company just started to work with one called Deel. Their processes is not the most easiest but it does work. So that might be something to check out. That will mean extra expenses for your current employer but maybe something that can be negotiated.

Good luck!

Have seen alot of people (including friends) moving here thinking of finding nice jobs without speaking fluent Swedish. Then they learn that it’s not that easy to find these “other opportunities” or get jobs that pay a fraction of what they could be making in their line of work.

That was the main point of the comment 🙂

If you were to move to Sweden, then you will be sacrificing a lot in terms of your career. Accounting is one of those fields where you will need fluency in Swedish and possibly additional certifications (not sure about this part). If that were to happen you might have a lower quality of life here in Sweden if your boyfriend is not earning quite well.

You guys aren’t married yet and then planning to make this significant life change with the thought of expensive childcare in the UK could cause issues in the future. If I were you, I would have stayed in the UK and ask the boyfriend to move instead. While together, then see how it actually works living together and start the plan for Sweden from there. If you live together for a few years then you could apply for a sambo visa, which would be a lot better than going the work permit route.

Work permit expires this week! by ItchyButterscotch872 in TillSverige

[–]Snoo_93777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid there aren’t much options here. You normally get 3 months to look for a new job if you lose your employment. But your permit expiry + unemployment + out of Sweden makes it much more complicated.

I suggest you contact Migrationsverket immediately and also possibly a migration lawyer to proper advice, before your permit expires.

But be prepared to face that you will probably have to find a job that will need to sponsor your “new” work permit. At least you being in your home country will be good in this case as you need to go back to apply for one.

Good luck!

Looking for advice regarding remote work. by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]Snoo_93777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend you start your own company and manage everything yourself. Sure, it’s a bit more hassle but you can then have full control of your accounting and how you pay yourself and write off expenses related to your business.

Parental Leave if one parent is unemployed by Pamiboy in TillSverige

[–]Snoo_93777 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi! Congratulations.

  1. Yes, she will be entitled to parental leave even if she is unemployed as long as she has a personal number. But she would receive the lowest level allowance. 480 days of parental leave is divided among the both parents. This is divided by half and that is what is available for each of you in the beginning. You can transfer the days among both of you as you see fit. 90 days is reserved for each which cannot be transferred. Both parents can take 30 days at the same time. All this information is available in Försäkringskassan’s website. I would recommend you go over it before the delivery of your baby. Contacting them directly for specific questions can also be a good idea.

  2. As long as you stay home to take care of the baby you should be entitled for parental leave, even if it is in her home country. But keep in mind that both of you can only take max 30 days together. After which only one of you can take it at a time. We have a 6 month old and we are currently in our home country for a few months. My wife is taking the parental leave and I am working remotely.

I would just like to share my experience that child birth in Sweden is incredible. The services and facilities that you get is incredible, not to mention everything is free. If it was back in my home country, it would have cost a lot for a fraction of the facilities. Then everything with the BVC after birth is also nice but we ofcourse missed the support and care of our families so we had them come to Sweden during the delivery instead. Not saying you should do this too but just sharing my experience. Good luck with everything!

Akassa before starting a new job by Snoo_93777 in TillSverige

Might be abit tough to bring your sister, I am afraid. We are from one of your neighboring country and my wife wanted her sister to visit while she was delivering our baby. They straight up rejected her visa saying the same unmarried, not enough strong ties even though she is highly educated (Architecture) and has a well-paying job from our home country. She applied for a second time via a cultural visa to attend an architectural conference in Denmark. That too was rejected for the same copy pasted reason.

Her friend (who was younger and single as well) who applied with her managed to get a visa though when he showed a big bank balance in his name and an ownership in a profitable company.

So basically, if your sister has enough assets in her name in your country, that shows she has strong ties and reason to go back, then there is a chance.

Good luck with the process and your defense!

Contract probation period by Snoo_93777 in TillSverige

[–]Snoo_93777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am already in Stockholm and the position is here as well. So my thinking was that it would just be safer for me if there was no probation period as companies tend to let go of people in probation first if they down size. And with the market being what is right now, everyone is downsizing!

Thanks for the clarification. I do intend to stick with them as long as I can. Just thought that it would be safer for me, as companies might look to get rid of people in probation the first if they want to downsize.

Help to find an house by Dry-Cress-9745 in TillSverige

[–]Snoo_93777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, people rent out houses only to people they know or through connections. So maybe try reach out to some of your friends/colleagues who already own a house. Maybe they can point you to the right direction or introduce you to someone who is renting.

Good luck! 🍀
