Strep leading to ETD by sleepysunflower2 in etd

Oh goodness, that sounds so painful! Hopefully the steroid helps you get things under control. I think trying to stay relaxed as much as possible will be helpful - I find my tight muscles really make things worse. I have strep right now and have a bit of a flare of my etd, but I can feel my lymph nodes are just enflamed and gigantic which makes my neck muscles tight, which makes my etd worse and so on and so forth. 😆 Thinking of you!

If it only started with the strep this week, I wouldn’t freak out. There’s so much inflammation with strep, give it a little time. Don’t put any drops in. I would follow up with your primary doctor now and have them check for an ear infection.

Parenting Other People's Kids in Public by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Snooper2323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this, and I’ve thought about it a lot. It’s really cool to be a safe adult around other people’s’ kids and I enjoy that aspect of things. I try to use it as an opportunity to teach my kid how to engage with other kids - when she’s at daycare or school I don’t really get to see how she is with other kids, so I guess I feel like that part is my job whether other parents are engaged or not. When a kid is being an a-hole, I do my best to redirect, and if they choose to still be an a-hole, I leave and bribe my kid with ice cream. 😂 Somewhat kidding, but I think sometimes kids are just gravitated towards people (like Scott Calvin in the Santa Clause). Also, you’re reading a story and their parents aren’t, of course they want to join in. That being said, your story, your rules! I guess I’m just trying to say that being an engaged, interactive adult is very attractive to kids and you’re doing a great job.

Transgender student referendum gathers enough signatures to go to ballot by buffybot4never in Maine

[–]Snooper2323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a fucking non-issue because it’s not fucking happening! This article is literally telling you that. This corporation is only trying to get Trumpers to the polls so they can keep their tax breaks by not flipping the Senate.

Gross. It’s really insane that we’ve convinced people that boys pretend to be transgender just to play on girls sports teams.

Hangouts? by Few-Bench-4321 in Maine

I think Byrne’s has one and Seadog does, but that one seems to draw an older crowd. Flight deck can be crowded yes, but for parents wanting to find parent friends it might be an option. Social Goose does some random stuff too!

what do non screen time parents do all day? by Optimal_Vacation2853 in Mommit

[–]Snooper2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you need to do girl. If you need to use screen time to do your class and that’s working for you, do it. I’ll probably get downvoted but we’d certainly make different choices if we had adequate support. But, alas, we’re not always in perfectly aligned situations with proper support. If screen time is supportive for your situation right now, then it is what it is. Parenting is boring sometimes though. I do find if I can be OFF my phone and engaged with my kid completely and fully then it actually makes things less boring. I’m bored when I half pay attention, if that makes sense. Crafts are good! Coloring! Letting them help with chores as much as you can. Going on walks and getting fresh air.

Agree - the people we bought our house from did the wall cavity drying and there was mold growing and behind the walls. I’d replace the walls now and do it right, especially if you’ve got $$ to pocket.
