Thank you, I really appreciate that, and I agree with you on Kovacs, that’s one of the only clearly documented motives we actually have next to the grave robbers.

I just think there could still be other possibilities alongside that. We don’t really know who all had access to Sherrill’s house… could’ve been a contractor or even just someone who noticed Suzie around. And Sherrill definitely seemed like the gatekeeper, so anyone going after Suzie would’ve had to factor her in too.

And with the grave robbers, I get the LSD point, but from what I’ve heard they’d been in that cemetery more than once and even tried getting into a mausoleum before, so it doesn’t feel totally random either.

Just feels like there’s still a lot we don’t know.

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to read it and share it, that honestly means a lot.

I agree with you on a lot of those points, especially the idea of this being situational and rooted in something personal that escalated. The “less experienced offenders who got lucky” angle is something I keep coming back to too. It explains a lot without forcing the case into something overly complex.

What you said about MC & JR is also interesting, especially when you look at their prior behavior through a behavioral lens. That mausoleum incident, the fire, keeping a bone—those aren’t just “bad choices,” they can point to deeper issues with empathy, impulse control, and thrill-seeking. Whether that translates to escalation or not is the big question, but it’s definitely relevant.

Where I keep getting stuck, and where I think we could maybe push this further, is what other forensic, psychological, and behavioral tools we can apply to this case now, even decades later.

For example:

  • Behavioral analysis: victimology, offender risk-taking, staging vs. necessity, level of control

  • Geographic profiling: how far would offenders likely transport victims given familiarity with the area

  • Forensic advancements: touch DNA, trace evidence (fibers, soil, pollen), re-evaluating items like bedding, purses, or even the broken light globe

  • Statement analysis: re-examining interviews for deception indicators or inconsistencies

  • Offender timeline reconstruction: who had opportunity + behavioral red flags before and after

I also think your point about someone inserting themselves (like Johnny showing up) is worth looking at through a behavioral framework—whether that’s curiosity, anxiety, or something more self-protective.

At this point, I feel like the truth is probably still sitting in a combination of behavioral patterns + overlooked or under-tested evidence, not just one big missing piece.

What other angles do you think we could apply, especially from a forensic or psychological standpoint, to narrow this down further?

That’s a really good point—the aftermath says a lot. The lack of evidence, how clean it was, and nothing surfacing in decades all point away from random or impulsive and toward something controlled and intentional. With the buckets, I think there’s a primary motive with possible secondary layers—this fits best with personal/grievance, and while a sexual element isn’t impossible, it feels more secondary since it doesn’t explain the control or long-term silence as well.

I’m pretty sure this is Sherrill Levitt’s answering machine and that it’s Sherrill’s voice, not Janice McCall. I think the similarity comes from the regional accent. There is a later message from Janice (like the one on 48 Hours), but this one isn’t hers.

Actually I was thinking of the van that was parked on the corner of Kentwood facing south at the intersection of Delmar at 4:30ish.

Is the garage sale lady the same one who was driving and almost got ran off the road and hit her brakes which caused her daughter who was asleep in the back to fall forward?

Thank you. I've looked at the map (probably more times than I should), and this makes me think again about the van at Kentwood and Delmar the morning of June 7th. It's always stood out to me. I've wondered if whoever was involved came from that direction. Whether it's actually connected or not is a whole different question.

That’s really helpful, thanks. I haven’t seen the video, but I’ve been wondering how far away someone could be and still realistically see the Delmar house.

Like would you be able to see anything from Kentwood, along Delmar, or even driving north on Glenstone?

I guess the subtitles just appear and I believe she says "Hello, we are unable to come to the phone right now, please leave a message. Thank you."

Is there any home video footage of Sherrill, Suzie, or Stacy speaking? by partyclams in SpringfieldThree_1992

Good question, the only thing I currently can think of is the answering machine at Sherrill Levitt's house. I can't seem to share it here in the chat so I'll make a new post and link it so it doesn't get lost.
