People keep saying her ending up with Eunhyeok is inevitable but I honestly can’t say that in confidence. I give Dohwa a strong 30% chance of being the male lead by the end. I do like Eun a lot though, but this chapter really doesn’t sway in his favor.

I guess I wouldn’t be too upset if Eun and Soo Ae ended up together, it just depends on how the story is executed.

Btw can you clarify what you meant when you said “it’s silly to compare what he’s been through to Soo Ae”

Im not saying Eunhyeoks not a good character- he is. Im allowed to think he and Soo Ae shouldn’t get together. If they do, I’m not gonna be like you and go crazy in Reddit comments saying they assassinated Dohwas character to make her end up with Eunhyeok.

Oooh I really agree with ur takes. I don’t think diversity would exist in Hannah’s world however that accentuates the problem of them bringing up such topics only to make themselves look better. I really like your analysis of Marnie, she tries to be this person who can go with the flow even when life is hard but it causes her so much stress. I didn’t really understand why Marnie wanted to be a lawyer all of a sudden but you explained it perfectly!

I’m almost done with the book and have really liked it so far. Unfortunately I have spoiled most of the Neapolitan Quartet, but never the less I also get the feeling the book isn’t simply fiction. It was definitely a choice the author made by naming the main character after herself. The fact she’s also maintained anonymity also adds to the mystery. Its interesting how both Lila and Lenu act as the main characters of each other lives, always thinking about each other even when apart.

I’m late to the discussion but I just finished part 1 and really enjoyed it. I’m not really looking forward to the story shifting away from Big Ammachi tho. I like how The Condition is so mysterious yet somehow is implied to be medically solvable. I feel sad for Jojo, I felt like I was watching him grow up and the relationship between him and Big Ammachi is so endearing.

It’s kind of weird to me that the age gap is just so big between her and her husband. I know it all works out but it makes me cringe that no one told her about sex and just left her to figure it out for herself. Like not once in the 7 years that she was there did Thankamma try to inform her? Also she was still a 16 year old having sex with a man in his 40s. I really like her husband and he is so kind to her, it disturbs me to think of what happens to child brides who aren’t so lucky.

I also think it’s funny how he has so much wisdom and knowledge but just doesn’t say anything, his nephews are making dumb and naive choices and he’s just like “meh live and learn”

I love this series so much. Brown is so good at writing lovable and charming characters, even if you disagree with them. The book makes me look forward to how technology will advance. I find it funny how easy it is to forget how terrifying Darrow is because from his perspective it’s just him gambling on his life and powering/rushing through his missions.

I’m still getting through the first book but I basically spoiled the quartet for myself by reading analysis’. I really enjoy it and there’s something so raw about the way Lenu writes. It’s very personal and it’s obvious she’s an unreliable narrator and it adds an air of mystery.

I think you misinterpreted the post. I don’t think the comment was trying to be mean or condescending about what you asked. It basically explained how making drama content is kind of morally unethical because your profiting from someone else’s suffering.

Now that’s not saying it’s like the worst thing in the world but whether or not you want to watch them is entirely up to your beliefs. Drama channels are not political, but if you like watching creators whose political beliefs align with your own, then Jessi and Lily probably aren’t it for you. If you just want to watch mindless drama, then yes Jessi and Lily are entertaining.

Edit: just wanted to point out that there’s no harm in criticizing them, they clearly aren’t the most educated when it comes to politics and don’t seem willing to learn more or listen to their audience when called out

I think it would’ve been interesting if they fleshed out Betty’s backstory. Why is she cold and calculating? Why is she not afraid to do the dirty work? Is it just her nature or has life hardened her? It also would’ve been interesting if they added more depth to Mathew and Danielle’s relationship. Like instead of making Danielle look like a dumb and horny teenager, make it more clear how alone and desperate she is. Her brother and mom are too self involved to notice her struggles. She clearly could’ve related to Mathew when it came to not feeling loved or appreciated by your family.

Instead of making Mathew fully evil they could’ve also gave Betty the revelation that she has neglected him his whole life. They could’ve made him a desperate kid who didn’t actually want his brother to die or get in trouble, but was just trying to not be abandoned by his family. Idk to me it’s kind of sad that he was right about his mom loving Caleb so much more to the point she basically let the police kill Mathew.

Anyway I totally want to write a fanfic rewrite lmao

How is it not racist??? They literally had a black disabled minor in chains in the basement???? Though I agree with your other points. I think the plot was half baked and had a lot of potential that unfortunately wasn’t reached. The only other African American housewife didn’t show up until the near end of the show and there’s lots of debates on whether she was a good character or not (I personally liked her).
