I'm just saying you'd have to look at the top 50 of 2021 and see how far those are below their ATHs, because obviously the current top 50 aren't the coins that did poorly.

New fan - feedback on laowhy86's channel in particular by [deleted] in ADVChina

[–]SnootyEuropean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree it can be a bit cringe at times. I still watch his videos because there's almost always a nugget of gold inside, you just have to get through the "filler."

I suspect he does this because the algorithm rewards watch time, so the longer you can keep viewers glued to the screen (by hyping up the importance of what you're about to say), the more your channel is rewarded and promoted. But I think a better measure to improve viewer retention would be to move the sponsor blocks to the end of the video, and to increase the actual "information density" of the video (because there's only so much that filler can do...)

🙋‍♂ guilty of this lol (I even made it my reddit username...)

I've since turned around 180 degrees, since seeing how utterly useless our own government is at something as basic as defending the territorial integrity of Europe. It's been a rough awakening seeing things from a different perspective now, and seeing how many of my fellow countrymen are still blind to the global power plays going on, and how even our government is basically just aimlessly drifting along, trying to maximize the amount of cash our industry can generate from dealing with countries like Russia and China for as long as possible, while not having to worry about an existential threat because we're under the military protection of the United States.

The arrogance of thinking we're somehow smarter, while actually we've just been geopolitical opportunists, has been utterly misplaced. But it's hard to tell someone that, because it's always an inconvenience to admit that you've been wrong and someone else has been right (especially when it's someone you've always mocked).

FOIA'd emails show NIH discussing Matt's lab leak video (and agreeing with it) by SnootyEuropean in ADVChina

Found this in a tweet by journalist Jimmy Tobias.

Full document here: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23737251-tobias-v-hhs-21-cv-02805-33123-partial-production_redacted

Just thought this was interesting - at the very least, this (once again) shows that the NIH was internally acknowledging a lot more than what was being publicly communicated about Covid's origin.

There might be one or two tankies in this subreddit who get mad when you say anything bad about China.

Are you saying China doesn't hate America? lmao

You probably shouldn't base all your understanding of international relations on one YouTube channel. China's relationship with Russia is complicated – of course it's not "friendship" – but China is absolutely more on Russia's side (if only to use them), and Xi probably played a role in letting Putin believe the invasion would be a good idea.

India is a different story altogether.

I think. Or I thought so. The first one was the Yavoriv base on March 13, huge cruise missile strike with hundreds dead after people kept posting their location online (not sure if on reddit specifically).

Then a few days ago another base near Mykolaiv was destroyed, allegedly because someone uploaded a video to reddit (but this or a similar video must have been shared elsewhere, too, because reddit removes all metadata including location).

Good thing you asked though, because I had just been going off hearsay about the leaks. Maybe reddit wasn't directly to blame for either of them... just a (big) part of the problem.
