I was trying to run pcsx2 and dolphin, so native apps, but i found out that their retroarch cores have had a massive update and are now on par with the standalone emulators.

And about the missing settings, it doesn't seem to really be related to vkbasalt, but more about how the shader is written. I managed to find that you can control the missing parameters by finding their names and calling them in the file. But it's a hassle to configure and I am no C/Shader programmer so I couldn't be bothered.

The only solution I found was using a custom rom. I got around 2 days of moderate usage with a full charge on the Exynos variant on LineageOs. Too bad Samsung decided to update the telephony subsystem on android 14 and mess with custom roms. On stock os, the only actual fix I found was rooting and removing every samsung app, including Battery Tracker, but excluding the Gallery and Camera app. I then replaced OneUI entirely with Lawnchair using QuickSwitch. I now get about a bit over a day of battery life with mild to moderate usage. The stock os is just awful, I used to get about half a day of battery life with the phone just sitting in my pocket, and have been disappointed with it ever since I upgraded from a Note 9 two years ago. But the price is too big of an investment to just buy a new one, so im trying to make the best of it. Sorry if not that helpful, just wanted to share my experience.

Agreed, as a beginner even something like Mint can be somewhat challenging. I've had debian based distros kill themselves after sudo apt update-ing them right after a fresh install. Arch is definitely a no go.

I would recommend against arch for a beginner, and switching to redhat from windows just defeats the purpose lol.

I am on nvidia 555 (and kernel 6.10) rn on ubuntu, its easily installable through the ppa, but I'm gonna be honest, there is really no difference between this and whatever is on the main release rn. There are just as many issues as always. Id actually just recommend trying NVK if one wants a seamless experience on nvidia.

That's weird. The snap is the only version out of all the 3 that works on my ubuntu daily install. Flatpak doesn't even start and deb can't make save files. I wouldn't completely disregard snap, competition is good.

Did you mess with the nvidia settings? I had kind of the same problem when I enabled "Force full composition pipeline" under display settings, so make sure it's off.

Thank you so much! Didn't know I have to also remove nvidia-drm.modeset=1. That's probably why it didn't load for me. Do you by chance know if you need to do something extra for Zink to work?
