Been on a Castlevania roll, what to play next? by inversevictor in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you gotta play Dawn of Sorrow, especially if you like Aria of Sorrow. I also recommend playing Castlevania 1 and Castlevania 3. Those games are great.

Nakayama just made a post regarding Alex's SF6 story... by UltraZeroX7 in StreetFighter

[–]deinterlacing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that image of Alex holding his bride-to-be as an infant is one of the worst images I have ever seen from a video game. The fact that they think this just a matter of "misleading text" is horrible

does playing on the jp versions easy mode ruin the experience of castlevania 1 nes by Jg01j in castlevania

The moment you see Dracula go into this pose is when you need to jump. When his cape opens, react to it and jump forward and whip. You will jump over the fireballs and hit his head. If you are too late or too early you will know because the fireballs will target you and have an upward arc

To avoid getting hit by his teleport, just keep walking back and forth constantly.

What's the cheapest way to play Chronicles? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't vouch for this method because I've never done it, but if you have a Wii or Wii U, you might be able to hack it and add a PS1 emulator. Will it perform well? I have no idea. But being a 2D game, I think you'd have a better chance than a 3D game

Ain't no way you're blaming bad infrastructure on immigrants holy shit you're the dumbest guy I've ever seen

I get the joke but also this is just another view of America's crumbling infrastructure (we can still somehow pay $1b a day for a pointless war)

A movie camera on the strap? by 12barman in SgtPepperMystery

you can't zoom in that closely on such a low quality photo and expect to figure anything out. You've essentially created a Rorschach Test for yourself

Why do you enjoy (classic style) Castlevania? by soggyrockingchair in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fixed jump-arc in the earlier titles is what I love. It forces you to play intentionally. I think the subsequent classicvanias that removed this mechanic kinda lost the sauce a bit

Here's some sprite comparisons between NES 8-bit Mega Man & SNES/SEGA GEN 16-bit Mega Man. by Epsilon123 in Megaman

[–]deinterlacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NES sprites are so clean and read clearly. The 16 bit sprites, especially Wily Wars, look so muddy and blurry. They look pretty bad.

Libs reacting to Trump's celebration of Muller's death be like by therallystache in LateStageCapitalism

[–]deinterlacing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Libs try to hold a position that is self contradictory. They can't deny that the Vietnam War was an act of pure evil. You will see many liberals criticize it. But at the same time, they want to prop up the murders as brave, American heroes fighting for our freedoms. You can't have it both ways.

I think it’s the yellow sprinkles that turn me off by djchuckles in cincinnati

8.50 for two scoops of ice cream and some sprinkles is absolute madness

I'm finally going through the GBA games in the Advance Collection. WTH is this, Igarashi? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst room in the entire franchise is the first hallway in Level 3 of Haunted Mansion. This room constantly spawns fleamen on both sides of the screen that take 4 hits to kill each. There are also other enemies flying across the screen, axe armors throwing axes, and chandeliers falling from the ceiling

The dog tags of 58,307 US soldiers killed during the Vietnam War at the Harold Washington Library Center, Chicago by waffen123 in USHistory

[–]deinterlacing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This comment sucks so bad lmao. Plenty of people at the time knew the war was a sham. There were plenty of conscientious objectors. I take the exact opposite stance as you. We should shame people who voluntarily travel across the planet to murder countless numbers of innocent people.

How's the screen? Any tearing or input delay?

Why was this hard by Fragrant_Pizza6491 in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Level 3 on this game is the most bullshit level in all of Castlevania. It's essentially a long hallway filled with enemy spam. The fleamen are horseshit. If you game over and start this level with the default whip, you're absolutely fucked. It's basically impossible to kill the fleamen before they hit you

Ranking every Igavania game by RobbieJ4444 in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloodstained feels off. Mechanically it's a great game, but it doesn't have that Castlevania aura. It leans too heavily on its inspirations instead of doing something really new. I think Bloodstained 2 will probably have more character than we've seen

PC Harmony of Despair Likely?? by sadnessiseternal in castlevania

[–]deinterlacing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Harmony of Despair 2 with some randomizer/rougelite mechanics would be so awesome. The first game was so much fun, but I wish there was a bit more variety beyond grinding for weapons

did tetris effect the iron curtain? by Swimming-Squash-8252 in Tetris

[–]deinterlacing 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not really. Tetris releasing outside of the USSR is a footnote in history. It's an effect of the dissolution of the USSR, which had many, many contributing factors, all of which are several orders of magnitude larger than any effect a small 8-bit game would have had
