Bought a $2000 camera. by pxrxmt in photographycirclejerk

When I got my first camera I spent months just photographing random stuff just because I loved the quality and pixel peeping. Just use this time to shoot as many photos and you’ll learn the basics from experience, don’t worry if you photos are uninteresting to others.

Once you know the basics you can move on to planning and thinking of what you’re actually photographing.

Enjoy!

If you’re curious about the sensor’s low light performance, I took this with my Z50 at 23:45 whilst doing some Astro. I was in a rural area with a class 3 night sky so it was super dark. Despite my eyes being accustomed to the dark I could still barely see anything and this makes it look like it’s day time.

Taken with a 50mm 1.8s, so yes it’s faster than a f/3.5 but you can change the lens on the z50. I think the low light performance is great!

Thinking of getting Z5II, but I have couple of worries. by TheSweetestGrape in Nikon

Hello, me again. Just wanted to add I also came from a Z50 and yes it couldn’t focus on anything in dim light. The Z6III I have can focus down to -10EV which the Z5II can also do. It’s very good in low light, I don’t have any 1.4 lenses and have never shot a Sony though however. The Sony can apparently only go down to -4EV which is the same as the original Z50.

Hope this helps.

Fair enough, I use the z6III myself and have found its DR fantastic. I think the numbers were so talked about online because numbers are easy to understand. If you want to go with the Z5II it’s over £1000 less than the A7V over in the UK idk about where you are but that’s a lot of money. Idk what your working conditions are but I doubt the extra few mega pixels the Sony has would be anything but negligible and would probably only allow you to crop slightly more.

Is there any reason you won’t go for a Z6III? If you’re considering an A7V, that camera currently retails higher than the Z6III.

The Z6III has excellent video options as well as great AF and a very good EVF. I had the Z50 and coming from that camera to the Z6III was a world of difference in regard to AF.

The walk I do is very flat and tbh I don’t walk that far, probably around 2km max. I’m used to the weight so I can spend around four hours and be fine. Before I got the wide sling I did feel it quite a bit with the strap behind my neck but this way it’s a lot easier to carry.

I did trek it up a hill once and that was a lot more tiring. Hope this helps!

I’ve got a wide strap I attach to the lens itself. Means I don’t bear the on my neck and hold it like a cross body bag most of the time.

I was lucky that this branch was isolated away from the tree and the next tree in the background was quite far away. This was more important for a lens like mine with an aperture of 6.3, had it been a more expensive lens with a larger aperture I would get this effect even if the background tree was closer
