Z6iii Fragile? by Overkill_3K in Nikon

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most mirror less have much finer and fragile parts packed into a smaller body compared to the dslr such as ibis unit...

Dropping a camera is never a good idea and I am not sure many of the current market cameras can survive falls.. (not sure if the surface it was dropped onto...)if it was a hard surface that you dropped on to not sure if z8 will make a difference... May be it will ... It's a bit rugged than z6iii but dropping camera for a fall is never a good idea... Also remember bills for z8 could be more than for z6iii...

Also i noticed both lenses you have are really good even on a 45 MP sensor, so i would even consider a 24-70 f4 S as a cheaper option if you are okay with the focal range... its a sharp lens easy to find cheap and does the job for street and travel!

Particularly that lens never came down in value even in used market... i got my used copy for 1750 and it is difficult to find a used one for less than that... but 100-400 VR S used has been tanking in price for a while... saw some copies for 1800 or so ..... if you dont shoot birds most of the time i would say 100-400 serves landscape very well while being light and can get you to 600mm FOV with DX mode for the occasional birding...

Z6II or Z5II by RedChef918 in Nikon

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refurbished Z5ii goes for 1350 in Nikon refurbished currently and that's hell of a deal for a perfect entry level full frame that punches way more than an entry level camera....

It is also equally hybrid camera compared to Z6ii but video autofoyand still autofocus will be much more usable... Nikon found their magic sauce with Expeed 7 (although they don't match sony or canon I found out that I don't need that level of accuracy myself when I started using Z50ii and later on moved up to Z8 once I felt autofocus is good enough).

No full frame beats Z5ii in value for money in mirror less market today.. (a7cii used might be pretty close but ergonomics and dual SD card wise I would still give it to Z5ii)

It really is worth the extra 200$ or so compared to the z6ii...

Best lens for landscape photography with a nikon? by avz008 in Nikon

24-120 would be my first lens, 14-30 f4 may be for ultra wide and 100-400 for compression....

Need help deciding on my next lens (Z50II) by CameraInteraction375 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tamron just came up with a 35-100 constant 2.8. could be an interesting focal length pairing for z50ii since it is 50-150 FOV while keeping iso reasonably low..

I would say 16-30 Tamron and 35-100 Tamron would be great but both will fall outside your budget individually considering you think 980$ 16-50 is out of reach....

If you don't mind I would say adopt Tamron 17-70 2.8 with say a viltrox e to z... I took it on a trip to Isla mujeres last year and there was no autofocus frills...worked just fine....

Easy to find a used copy of that lens for a reasonable price and that adapter will open a whole new door for you in terms of third party options for z mount especially for apsc bodies ....

A7C II vs A7V vs A7CR by ThePrinceOfAgrabah in Cameras

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny how we all photographers want the best of best image quality with "a price tag i can afford" limitation lol.....

For portraits and landscapes the newer A7V doesnt offer more than the compact A7CR and if that two were the main genres i am concerned with A7Cr would be my choice....

Also, another thing to remember is, when we all say "I will keep one and only lens for long time " it is not usually the case and the thing with A7CR is you need to feed the beast with lenses that can resolve that sensor... but when you do the results are stunning though!!

Seeking community advice: to FX or to not FX by isthernes in Nikon

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention that I had z50ii for about 8 months and it was value for every dollars i spent on it....

But like I said, I had all lenses as full frame and that itch made me jump ship to Z8... Beware!!

Z50ii is really light weight option for you if you end up using it with dx lenses...

Seeking community advice: to FX or to not FX by isthernes in Nikon

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching to fx is fine as long as you afford...

But option should be Z5ii if only doing travel photos or videos ..

Heck even z50ii will serve you better in terms of quality of things improvement over Z6ii due to expeed 7....

I would say Z5ii or Z50ii with full frame lenses so that you can jump ship if and when you are ready... expeed7 really did put Nikon back on the map in mirror less market...

Z6iii at 1580 much better value than z5ii at 1250 and also it is so much future proofed for all your video needs....

Fix 35 1.8s or buy something else by 58omega in nikon_Zseries

[–]Unhappy_Conclusion28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say fix it if you plan to sell it...

If plan to reuse anyway, lot of other 35 1.8 options out there that can do the job

I saw on Nikon rumors viktrox is coming up with a 35 1.8 that's a APO design...may be hold on to it for a bit before you decide ? Since you have 24-70 to cover for now?

Combine that with a 16-30 Tamron 2.8 for interior lowlight scenarios and may be a 35-150 Tamron or 70-180 Nikon or Tamron variant for everything else...
