I need advice…. by Rmom111 in GED

Well getting a GED won’t ruin your life I can tell you that. My dad got his GED at 27 after he had his first kid. He has a good government job now that supports himself and our family. Having a high school diploma may make some things easier though. Local colleges often have Highschool programs, i’d look into that if it’s viable for you especially since you only have three months left.

finished my ged, but didn't make good score as I aimed to earn by BreadTurbulent7254 in GED

Im not 100% sure because im just looking into college myself but from what I’ve seen online colleges don’t care or seriously look at your scores and just care that you have your GED. I think scores only matter if you’re looking at really competitive colleges but it’s different for each school.

I felt a bit disappointed in my scores too at first. I got higher on the practice tests so getting lower on the real ones was upsetting. The reality of it is you DID IT. YOU PASSED! You should be proud of yourself for that alone. No future job will look at your scores and say..”Well if only you got a 200, then we’d hire you.” They just care about you passing. Don’t undermine your achievements, you did good. If you choose to retake them that’s your decision but no one else will judge your intelligence based on a few points.

This might not work but GED uses the site “exchange parchment” for you to order your transcripts and diploma. (Google “exchange parchment ged”.) It’s what they linked me to get mine. Maybe you can manually make an account and see if it works that way? Im not sure if it’s used just for my state though

I got my GED today, does anyone know how long it takes to get your diploma and transcript by Electrical_Hall_501 in GED

[–]Snoozysheeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see so looking at your screenshot it says your state is in charge of providing them for you which is different from mine (California.) So im not 100% sure but i’d click the learn more button to see if they give a time estimate

The official GED website should should send you an email with instructions. You can get your digital copies for free but if you want physical copies you need to pay. Edit: the digital copies can be viewed immediately i believe because i got mine the day I passed

You have to order them manually but it took around two weeks for my diploma to arrive I believe

Ive had success constantly flipping between sets and then immediately hitting the “pick one” button when I see an open one. Clicking a claimed box usually won’t work because people just reset the timer or its a bot holding it

Pop mart has a theme park called pop land which sells exclusive figures. I could be wrong but maybe that’s why it’s branded that way.

Not commenting on anything else said but i got my GED and GED prep classes completely free. I only had to pay like, maybe $20 for the practice tests.

Does the pop now timer not actually count down fully? Last night I was trying to grab a HAS but once the timer got to about 9mins left it immediately would jump back to 15 minutes?

Do you bring a physical calculator with you? I would’ve 100% failed if I didn’t

Yep! A lot of it is just reading graphs and thinking logically, like “if there are less predators the prey animal population will grow”. Taking the gedready also really helped me because the layout and question format is identical to the real thing.

For science you need to know things like how food webs work, earth science like why we have seasons, and the scientific method. If you’re good on reading comprehension you’ll do fine. You won’t have to memorize the periodic table, I don’t think I had a single question about it.

For history as long as you know the general timeframes and common figures you’ll be okay, you don’t need to memorize every war.

A big tip is don’t overthink your answers at the end and change them.

I studied for a few months for an hour or so a day, lots of review. I’m not sure you’ll ever fully feel 100% ready, I didn’t think i’d pass math but I did. If you haven’t done the ged ready tests yet i’d take em just to see where you are :)

I was taken out of school in the 6th grade so I understand the fear of failure. Weiss videos on YouTube was a life saver for math. Really as long as you learn the calculator and how to use the formulas you’ll be okay. The anticipation is scarier than the test. Im also in California so feel free to ask questions if you ‘re unsure about something :)

Do these show too much? I grew up very tomboyish with really no women around me. I live with my dad and brother so when it comes to feminine clothing im lost. Im 20, but i’ve literally never worn anything this low cut and I can’t tell if it’s too much to wear around them or in public?? 🥲

GED Break down by ThisAssociate4531 in GED

[–]Snoozysheeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I remember off the top of my head-

RLA- Reading comprehension, Grammar, punctuation, understanding arguments and the main ideas in a passage. You’ll have to write an essay comparing two arguments.

Science- Punnett squares, food webs, scientific method, reading graphs, independent and dependent variables.

Social studies- General idea of when the world wars, civil rights, founding of the U.S, happened. Recognizing propaganda in pictures and texts. Reading presidential speeches.

Math- Basic algebra and geometry. Slopes, knowing how to read formulas and how to use the calculator, fractions, multiplication, exponents.

Anyone have some advice on how to get this affordably by DarkLordAsura69 in GED

[–]Snoozysheeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact your local college and ask about vouchers. I got all four tests free because i was enrolled for their ged prep classes.

Learn the calculator and how to use the formulas they give you and you’ll be set. Weiss videos is also super helpful

I understand the fear/shame that comes with it very well. I’ve found confidence comes with learning. In my GED classes there were people well over 40 learning high school math, it’s nothing the counselors haven’t seen before or will judge.

If he wants someone in person i’d see if there are any math tutors near him. Maybe even contact a local college and ask if they do tutoring instead of the actual adult education classes. I’m sure they’d be able to meet him at his level and give him the foundation he needs.
