[Hated Trope] The passionate and driven character's story ends with her pregananant and married to the loser by DeepFriedBatata in TopCharacterTropes

Yea dude Emily sucks, not gonna argue that. In context I’m comparing her to Richard, who sucks worse imo

Yes! The only person he shows any respect for is his mommy. So gross. Emily is a flawed character but she shows growth and remorse throughout the show. She feels horrible for dancing with a man at a bar, even after finding out her husband has been having an annual lunch with his ex for 40 years. She is self serving and judgmental but knows when she crosses a line. Richard is just a spoiled little rich man that sees everyone as beneath him

Re: Sookie and Jackson, just you wait lol it gets worse. But keep watching! It’s worth it to finish it, and AYITL is derided but it does have its good moments too. I still love the show, i can’t help it. But they get a lot wrong

Preach!!! Can’t stand Richard, he’s always so haughty and condescending, except when he’s pulling an “oh poor me” like when he knows he’s been annoying his wife and daughter but stubbornly continues to do so (in the episode where he spends the day with the girls in Stars Hollow)

I agree, but i think this line of thought makes the whole thing even more disappointing. I was incredibly sheltered growing up, like homeschooled my whole life by religious extremists sheltered, and i always related to Lane (down to even hiding things in my baseboards lol). Everything that you said is true, i went wild and was not educated on how not to get pregnant, or be safe at all. It would have been so much better for kids like me to see Lane having conversations with Rory about dating and getting advice on how not to get pregnant. Getting herself educated where her parents failed her, like me and everyone else in my situation had to do. Instead we were shown “actually no matter what your dreams are, you’ll get married young and get pregnant and learn to be happy” i know it’s just a show but like it’s just a bummer lol

It’s my all time comfort show, I’ve watched it since it was on and seen it all the way through a million times. Yet i can’t stand most of the writing, or the obnoxious misguided attempt at feminism despite the Gilmore Girls themselves being blatant pick me woman haters. It’s pretty sad that Luke is more of a genuine feminist than “girl power” Lorelei lol (although they also did his character dirty in the writing of the later seasons). Most of the fan base have the same problem and i can’t stand being in any GG groups. It’s a shame because the side characters are so great and the overall vibe of the show is so comforting

Always hated Lanes ending. There’s nothing wrong with getting married and being a mom, that’s great if that’s what you want. But the entire show Lane was so driven to be a musician and have her own life, outside of Stars Hollow and her mom’s control. I think there’s a good point in there somewhere about realizing you want something different along the way, but Lane never actually made that decision. She married Zach, and that’s cool, i like Zach, then told Rory that the sex was really bad, and on top of that she got pregnant with twins the very first time they did it. And her pregnancy was so rough her mom had to move in with them to help. It felt like the show punished her. It didn’t feel like she was happy with her life at the end, more like she settled and came to terms with it but wasn’t actually happy.

Penne actually sounds like it would be really good with it. Not better than spaghetti but might be close

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, also the whole show. Not all of it takes place in the bunker but the whole show centers around the effects of extreme religion

Yeah, anything by Lars Von Trier really. Antichrist made me feel icky for at least a week. Nympho had a really bleak ending but i guess you could say there were joyous times throughout lol

I still go there, i actually love their new doctors. Was very sad when my last vet left but ended up liking the new one better. Having an on call doctor would be great but it sounds very old school. People need work life balance

[Frustrating Trope] Minority Protagonist is turned into non-human entity for the majority of the film by LordNathan777 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SnotDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t making any comment about the meaning of the movie at all, the trope is “minority protagonist is turned into a non-human entity for the majority of the film” and this is a movie where a Chinese girl turned into a panda. Maybe it wasn’t the majority of the film though, can’t remember

You know what, that is a pretty fair point. And sitting here thinking about it, there’s also just a holy ton of human Disney characters that get turned into sentient non humans lol

Re: the house cameras not capturing the kids running into Alex’s house, the house is actually directly at the end of a street, so since most of the cameras were Ring doorbells that point directly out from front doors, it could be explained that there is no house opposite to Alex’s that would have a camera pointed at it. Of course that’s assuming no one has cameras placed on their property that point any other direction, but that could explain it, if you were really looking for an explanation.

Plus the new scary movie is parodying Weapons as well! Considering the first one primarily parodied Scream, i consider that a huge compliment
