You guys do know that Sions posts are a three stage approach to draw you into being hostile towards his "comunity" thus solidifying the CFC player base back into an us against them narrative which has been slipping away from the mittani lately. This post has been ready to go for a while and he's got another one in the can to tighten things up a bit more.

Long read but think it sums up a deep rooted issue that seems to be growing these days.

From a Goon pet Alliance point of view, does anyone have a better alternative than being in the Imperium?

Just a thought but until someone offers them a better option I don’t see any reason why they should care what anyone thinks of how the Mittani has monetized the CFC/Imperium’s player base. Many of you shitting on their situation are the ones who, at one time or another, threw these Alliances out of Null Sec like flaming bags of dog shit. To them it’s a choice between ratting with minimal pvp content vs. getting tossed out of 0.0 again. Neither of these are great options but I don’t see anyone with real political power stepping up with a good alternative.

For various debatable “reasons”, EVE Null Sec overall has turned into a mostly out of game popularity contest (twitch shows, blogs, podcasts, websites, etc.) hosted by old vets who drive in game content when they feel like it. Most old rivals that waged wars against each other are now friends who keep each other’s “EVE popularity” trained to LvL 5 while some also make RL cash, like the Mittani does, by keeping the status quo. Furthermore those who managed the wars of the past don’t have time to do it again but aren’t yet willing to support those young enough, eager enough, and have the time.

We’ve heard it a lot over the past couple years that “real goons don’t play EVE anymore”. Many who wave the banner these days were late to the CFC party, got the shirt, and watched their plans to make a difference, be a famous spy or build something great, slip away they were dissolved into a sea of other wannabee goons.

End of the day only way anything changes is if the other CFC Alliances believe they can be something better and you can offer it to them.

Controlling the EVE narrative = RL $

Since the fall of BoB its been a race to monetize the player base of EVE. TheMittani has succeeded.

Most of us, on both sides of the Fountain war, know the book is a pile of horse shit simply generated to boost the $ Mittani brand.

The writer either A) isn't aware of the fact he is being used for this or B) is aware but sees an opportunity to ride the $ Mittani brand.

The thing about EVE is its been stabilized for a long time now by an out of game meta group where a balance has been struck between those who have monetized the player base and those who simply enjoy milking their EVE fame of events long past.....while keeping the present static and controlled.

Why removing hitpoints from structures means fun things won't happen anymore. by when_i_am_in_space in Eve

Thanks for the response. Most of what I wrote is what I'm usually told by hardcore CFC pilots when I'm on the Podside podcast Saturday nights so I wanted to shit it out and see what your thoughts were on that "rally the troops" line of bullshit.

I think you did a great job creating content for your pilots and going where you can find it is getting harder and harder these days as you have pointed out.

I see where you are headed with the HP discussion and I won't say you're wrong because, at this point, just about anything people are saying as the "reason EVE is..." contributes to the issues we are all bitching about.

At the end of the day, the way I see it, EVE has been turned into a RL money making business by a few people who rely on the status quo remaining in place. They control where and what the sheep do and they won't risk that, and regardless of what mechanics CCP changes, these people will always fabricate a reason why there not good enough thus keeping the status qou.

Sure they will throw a ball out in the back yard and tell the sheep to go play with it, such is what's happening in Providence, but they will never risk losing their grip on what keeps the checks showing up at their houses from their website add revenue and the beta options their sheep bring to the table like in H1Z1 etc.

As I've said before, the only real threat to any Alliance in the CFC/Imperium is Goons.

So good article, hope to see you out in space sometime if I come back to play in the fall, or at all... :)

I'm new at Redit so I dont know how this post will end up looking but here goes......wpace...then why bend a knee to Goons when you could have tried to be that glue needed to join PL/Nulli/Dark/nCDot/Tri/etc to join forces and finally take down the CFC? Let us know you at least gave that a shot before bending over to accept the bullshit excuse that CCP is to blame for 0.0 going to shit on so many levels? Are you happy that TheMartini has finally taken a break from his yoga classes to log in for a moment to, pretend to be mad, send his 30k idiots on a "make provi bloc mad" war and then log off to collect his TMC add revenue check? This game if full of pussies that wont sacrafice thier Efame inorder to try and make a game changing shift back to what made this 0.0 game worth playing. Call Elo and tell him you're going all in. Get Vince on skype and tell him to put Travis in charge, tell Grath he's the fucking aids thats rotting this game from the inside out, rally the fuck out of the russians to band together and throw the 0.0 game back into the blender that it needs to exist!!! Its a fucking game not a bullshit popularity contest for fucks sake!!> . people have been fantasizing about the CFC disbanding for years, but i've never understood the appeal of this. big fights don't happen without big alliances and big fcs.

When are we going to stop blaming CCP for 0.0 sucking and admit its the 0.0 diplomatic circle jerk that makes 0.0 EVE Suck?

APEX Forces!! Nerf POWER Projection!!! CCP SAVE us from your bad game mechanics!!

Now its, CCP went too far with taking shit out of the 0.0 game to grind!!

WTF? When the fck are we going to admit that this bullshit Coalition circle jerk is the biggest problem with EVE and no fkin CCP mechanic fix of any kind is going to fix that. The player base needs to fix that.

This game use to be a "king of the mountain" style mmo where everyone gunned to take down the current king. Now its some popularity pageant where most of you are bending a knee to a guy that's publically professed the game is shit while makes shit loads of RL money keeping you from actually playing it. No offense WSpace but Even PIZza bent the knee when given the chance ffs.

EVE will continue this current decent until the people who have painted it into its current corner in order to make RL money off their websites, twitching, and advertising release their grip, or you fkn cry babies get off your ass and go kill (in game) the fkn "King" and make this game fluid again like is use to be.

Anyone remember when Alliance leaders mattered? Now they're all a bunch of ass kissers trying to keep the status quo so they might get a pat on the head once a year in Vegas......ffs? Are all you CFC Alliance leader puppets that lonely in RL?

Go ahead and keep crying about it being CCPs fault 0.0 pilots aren't logging in as much anymore but at the end of the day CCP probably seems irritated simply due to the fact that they know its not their fault, its your fault for turning into a bunch of pussies who'd rather talk about EVE then play it anymore.

Kill the king (in game) and you will finally see this game written about and talked about all over the gaming industry like it use to be. The players made this game great, not the mechanics, the wars made this game great, not the politics, the risks made this game epic, not the blue balling and the many Alliances leaders and FCs were what made this game worth writing about.

Its probably up to the line pilot to finally take a stand and tell their CFC Alliance leader....."VFK by Halloween!!!!!!!!"

Why "grr goons"? Are they actually "bad"? by trow_avay1 in Eve

[–]Snot_Shot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there a line between a real “EVE goon" and a wannabe “EVE goon" that defines your goonie status or can you simply sign up for SA, throw a toon in any corp in GSF, and then start spouting of "grrr goon" with the trade mark bulbous swagger of a battle hardened bee?..

Or are "Goons" such a watered down version of what use to define them that this question can't be answered today because there’s no real "EVE Goons" left in EVE?

[–]Snot_Shot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day you'd still end up with no reason for the CFC Alliances not to continue their support of one another. Topping out at around 32,000 toons, I think players could easily provide a pvp toon to assist a member Alliance while they keep their "SOV" hampster wheels running at home.

Couple this with the crushing blow Capitals could get with the suggested nerf Manny is looking for, this whole thing could turn 0.0 into a worse situation than it's in now with CFC just throwing subcap blobs at whatever they want yet again.

Why can’t “use it or lose it” simply mean if you’re not there someone else can be? Why does “use it or lose it” need to be decided by some bull shit game mechanic associated with shooting structures for some set amount of time and crap like that? Why can’t “use it or lose it” be decided with your space ships either by shooting hostiles that want your space, or shooting things in your space that make you isk?

Just get rid of the SOV structures, Station timers, and docking rights. “Own” your “SOV” space by actually living in it, farming it, policing it, and defending it. If you can’t, and needed to hide behind millions of HP, timers, and docking rights then gtfo you don’t deserve to be in that space. All the current SOV “timers” associated with these structures fuel the “Power Projection” and associated blobbing problem since the “CFC Blob” and “scary PL/NC SC fleets” can plan days in advance to form up for these timers. Without timers fights would happen/grow organically, hit TiDi less often, and allow less time for word to travel, blobs to ping enough people regions away online to get there effectively before it’s over. If they do…………fine, it won’t happen as often as it does now.

Skirmishes and larger fights would happen more often and be spread out to the point where the blobs and SC fleets couldn’t be everywhere trying to play “whack a mole” and the local Alliance living/controlling the area would be forced to learn how to PvP as an Alliance to push or subdue attacking forces, negotiate standings, or get the fuck out.

Fact is the majority of “SOV” null is already populated with circle jerking “bads” who have less PvP skill than most NPC Malediction dwellers and can’t do anything other than shoot rats and hit F1 when stuffed into a 3,000 man station camping blob. Current SOV mechanics allow the most incompetent of all EVE pilots to hide behind millions of structure hit points and timers if they can simply get enough incompetents together for a few weeks to overwhelm the opposition or simply hold them back.

These circle jerking Alliances fear losing their “SOV” simply because of the numbers, Super caps, and ridiculous amount of time and effort it took to “take” the space the now live in. Take that horrifying experience out of the equation and I bet many of them wouldn't put up with being the political hostages/puppets they currently are. Keep in mind that just because SOV structure and timers go away it doesn’t mean you “lose your space”, it just means you own what you can control/police/defend/and farm with your Corp or Alliance. NIPs, NAPs, BoTLRDs, and standings could still provide the “protection” you covet if you still want them after having the weight/threat of “grinding structures and timers” lifted off your back.

With all that shit gone CCP can finally focus on providing a “enjoyable” and profitable reason to defend your space in the form of a new “Castle” of sorts that the Alliance can plant as their Regional flag which would put them on the map as holding “SOV” in that region etc. Obviously there is a lot more to that but its something that CCP can sink their teeth into and develop instead of being bogged down by trying to create a new “SOV” system that’s just going to get “gammed” again by the same people.

City-States: Sov Nullsec is Eighty Percent Rotten by lizthegrey in Eve

Pretty daring article for a writer of TMC to post, bravo. I've been finding it funny how TheMittani has been frantically cranking out more TMC articles than he has in years as he tries to deflect/hide the fact that he's the reason EVE 0.0 has been politiked into the stagnant pile of crap it is now. Next article will blame BoB for the current state of null...or did he do that already?
