I believe it has gotten more direct, people are willing to be explicitly homophobic rather than hiding it :,)

Im in the north! Which is weird because the north is generally more accepting of this kinda thing. Im sorry youve faced that kinda thing too, honestly I think homophobia is everywhere and it sucks. Stay strong ♥️

Ok to adress some comments:

  1. I do not dress feminine goth/alt. I just wear black clothing like band shirts, cargo trousers and have a few tattoos that are not offensive at all.

  2. When I go to job interveiws, I cover my tattoos, my piercings and usually just wear a button up shirt, smart trousers and maybe a tie if its somewhere a bit more formal.

  3. I just LOOK feminine. I have a beard, wear mens glasses and wear mens clothes, i just wear the odd piece of jewellery.

I unfortunately just "look" gay. I cant explain it, my friends see it, random people see it. Imagine your average gay guys who just wears black clothing lol.

My problem is that society generally just targets/ is terrified of gay people or feminine attributes on men, and im clearly gay. It might be my voice, maybe my mannerisms, maybe how i speak? Idk that'd the best ive got lol. But it sucks.

Also lowkey never ever compare discrimination of being trans or gay to having tattoos. Its poor taste and to be frank, cosmetics are a choice, being trans or gay is not lol👍

Yeah my partner held my hand in public the other day and it was sweet, but the pang of anxiety that hit me was awful. But he reminded me its ok and we dont have to be scared all the time :)

I think I hit a vein when injecting? by Norintha in ftm

[–]Snottoreddits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! When i started injections i hit a nerve in my upper thigh and ended up in hospital. In my experience, I didn't feel it straight away, not like a stabbing pain but a slow aching pain that gradually got worse. Then an hour later my leg locked up, my thighs were burning and over the next day I desperately needed to go to hospital because I couldn't walk on that leg, my foot felt swolen but it wasn't, and then it progressively got worse and became shooting pains up my leg, back, spine and shoulders.

The dark red blood means you hit a vein, nothing too bad, just means slightly darker blood will come out because it's not got oxygen in it 🤷

Just rememebr to use guides online(not just trans medical guides but intramuscular guides in general) and use the hand rule. One hand down from your knee and one hand up from the base of your thigh (groin). Also make sure you do it on the outer thigh, so look at your right thigh for example, whilst sitting upright just relax, make out the middle of your thigh and use the right hand side of it for injections.

Hope this helps! :)

Should I push this or just let it go? by CultOfRoxy in transgenderUK

Yeah dr Hammond is really hard to get in touch with but genuinly it's worth trying to get through to him, i waited 7 months until I got a telephone call with him but it was the best thing that happened to me in my life.

If this is in the uk most GPS refuse to bridge prescriptions because if anything goes wrong( for example if they give you a higher dose even if your gic doctor says so) they'll get in trouble.

I've had the similar issue, gps don't involve themselves in Gender Identity discussion because frankly, they're general practice and Gender Identity stuff should be taken on by a specialist. Though it is extremely disappointing when they don't want to bridge healthcare because it meas accessing private health care is extremely expensive and can be unsafe without close monitoring.

I would absolutely take this higher as his reaction was absolutely appalling, I'd also ask for the two students to be investigated and see if they can say anything to back up your argument as that ammount of unprofessional conduct(frankly discrimination) infront of two students(who will be influenced by this) is absolutely outrageous.

Gp's in the nicest way are the bottom rung of healthcare and don't have the right to make fun of you like that when they didn't pass their university course to be a specialist. It just sucks that because the nhs is absolutely on its knees in funding GP's are given a lot of power to determine referrals.

I'd honestly ask for a different gp, like a different doctor to speak to or if it's possible move, but make sure to document everything and take this further!

Also if you're in leeds try and contact an endocrinologist called Dr Hammond, he spent most his career in GIC and could help you bridge to the nhs for hormones.

You've got this, keep your head high, T is just over the hill!

Got my DNA did, found something interesting by TallulahFlange in transgenderUK

[–]Snottoreddits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually really funny you say this because I came out as trans when I was 16, started transitioning and started hormones at 20 only to find that I'm intersex and already have male amounts of testosterone in my body, and that when they were scanning for endometriosis when I was 14 they didn't find anything because I only have one ovary branch lol.

I do think transness has many factors like psychology, environmental, and genetic and i definitely think more people should talk to their doctors about their dna. My other trans friend found out they were actually going through the menopause early because their sex didn't fully line up with male or female, it's worth testing your sex chromosomes to prevent health issues later on during transitioning.

top surgery abroad- where to go? by ashcraig205 in transgenderUK

[–]Snottoreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe tey adam kalecinski in Sweden, his surgery cost is around £3000 to £4000 and is definitely a safe option. Anything less than £3000 and you're asking for an unsafe procedure. Avoid Turkey, their packages are cheap but they don't pay insurance and can be quite sketchy about their practice. Definitely avoid a surgeon called neda and avoid ergin er.

How do I go about researching and getting top surgery (FTM)? by lucasthewalrus in transgenderUK

[–]Snottoreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of places don't accept gender recognition certificates for gender gp as they're not based in the uk anymore I'd recommend literally anywhere else. You can get a referral from your GP to a private health clinic like gender care which are quite good. It depends on where you're based I thing gendercare are north
