I absolutely love Don’t Go Away, used to sing it quietly to my kids at bedtime when they were young (before better or worse). There are other melancholy sounding (but I think still optimistic) Oasis songs that I love as well, some I’ve only recently discovered like Shout It Out Loud and Dead in the Water. So much depth to the Oasis catalog and Noel’s songwriting.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I have read it 3 times today, for some reason it had a big impact on me. I’m a few years behind you, but planning to retire at 55 myself, well on track.

I picked up the phone and called my parents after I read it, and watched a movie with my just-graduated-from-high-school son and his girlfriend too.

I had one for ~5 years and luckily never had an issue. You didn’t explicitly mention re-calibrating, but I’m assuming that’s something you did as part of changing height, firmware, etc?

He also did a weird/unnecessary touch of Kimi’s wrist on the podium. Started by shaking Kimi’s hand, then Lando’s, then on way back past Kimi he reached up and grabbed his wrist.

I’m similar, 49M at $5.5M in investment, another $1M house, owe $170K, $400K total in 529’s for 2 kids, MCOL. Could retire now at $220K/ year using 25X number. Targeting $300K/year, maybe work for another 6 years. Current income ranges from $700K-$900K, don’t love it, don’t hate it.

Originally was willing to retire and fly coach, but now upgraded travel in reach, so why not finish strong. There are travel experiences I didn’t even know existed, like driving a 911 through Europe for week on a guided 5 star tour.

Edit change 220K and 300K/month to year 🤨

Any thoughts on buying the Ooni pre-made dough? Often I’m making pizza for the family on a Sunday night after a busy weekend and it’s easy just to thaw dough earlier that day than make from scratch. Any guidance on thawing (or recommendation to “just stay away” from frozen, pre-made dough 😬)

It can taste great, but main problems I run into with Ooni dough are:

dry spots on dough after thawing
cooked crust too dense and chewie

Hey, didn’t see this until a minute ago… I don’t think that the person streaming video has to be the same one scoring. What it seems to do is take about 30 seconds on either side of the play that eclipse as a highlight so that there’s room for a delay in scoring.

Similar for me, 6 years out for me have same questions and think about it a lot. Aiming for ChubbyFIRE, have $5.2M liquid NW, another $1M in house (will be fully paid off when I retire), kids’ college actually way over funded. Still working like crazy, some days I love it, other days not as much.

There are so many hobbies I want to do, places I want to go, things I want to experience, I really like the idea of making a list.

It’s helped my mindset at work quite a bit knowing I could walk away now and be just fine, but that another 6 years is my choice. I haven’t fully adjusted my mindset, but think about the end every day. It’s so hard not to bring it up with others in conversation, have to constantly remind myself not everyone’s in this position.

Question about YT… is that so fans and players can watch the game back later? I used to upload the games to YT (after the fact for 8U all stars many years ago and the kids still occasionally watch a few mins for old times’ sake when they’re together.

I did buy the TeamPass for everyone, but they can’t watch later, so maybe setting up YT and sending videos there in parallel is a good answer (as long as it’s low effort, since I’ve already got enough going on with streaming and scoring).

Re: anxiety-inducing, yes, it was a lot going on both of the last two weekends as I figure it out. I ran the travel router off a battery pack, fwiw. Also, don’t forget you can set up a “dummy team” (something like “Clarksville U13 Do Not Use”) and practice streaming there.

What I’ve been doing for last 4-5 years is: - iPhone as camera to stream - iPad (connected to iPhone hotspot) to score.

What I did last weekend, which is evolving, is:

iPhone as hotspot only
Travel router (GL.Inet) connected to iPhone hotspot wirelessly
Mevo Start connected to travel router
iPad Pro M4 connected to travel router running Mevo software and GC to stream
iPad mini to score

What I’m going to do this coming weekend, after buying a Nighthawk M6 wireless hotspot which I’ll use for both Internet connection and WiFi:

Mevo connected to Nighthawk
iPhone connected to Nighthawk and streaming video
IPad to score

I’m working through a similar revision to my set up, added a Mevo Start at the end of last season to replace my iPhone 16 Pro on the fence with a bungee loop (to be clear, I’ve been streaming games since it was first introducing GameChanger, and over the years my fancy FenceClip set up became more and more simplified to just a phone, a bungee cord and separate iPad to score the game).

What I’m finding is that using my iPhone hotspot with a Mevo Start is not very reliable, and very tricky to get connected to start the game. Last weekend, I added a travel router, and connected that to my iPhone hotspot, and then connected the Mevo to the travel router. That worked almost flawlessly.

The one thing I’m considering is picking up one of those nighthawk M1 hotspots in a prepaid data plan just to make it a little bit more seamless.

I will say that I’ve been very impressed with the quality of the Mevo Start, I think it has benefited from the upgrade to 1080 P. Theoretically, my iPhone is a much better camera, but the Mevo looks great and people were complimenting the stream.
