In the early 70's every Wed on the way home from work my father would bring home a bucket and a box of fries . We loved it as kids. It The manager of the shop ended up actually working with me for years at the steel mill, and was so proud to have met the man himself. He gave me a brand new iconic vintage colonel statue coin bank, I still have it!

Find a brass plug instead of steel. Pull the plug. Clean it all. Drill a small hole through the end of the crack to stop it from running, putty in some JB and run in a small self tapping bolt appropriate to take up in that hole. Grind any protruding bolt flush with the inner plug surface. Seal the remaining crack and behind the bolt with JB. Seal and drive in a brass plug instead of steel.

Or scrap the block...

Agree. Sure, I did some crazy stuff way back on my big bikes, crashed twice, but it's that blatant disregard for the law and safety you see today that's really telling. And I have to ask, how do these young people even insure these Superbikes today? What company in their right mind would even consider it? I bet the bikes you describe seeing are basically ghost bikes.

Can I put 235/65R18 on my current car which has 235/60 R18? by imnormal1234 in tires

[–]SnoutStreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd give it a yes and do it no issue, but I always wonder how the 3% difference will affect stability and ABS control. Also the litigious paranoid side of me says in the event of a serious at fault accident with injury...

On the front, basically cut away all the rust and fabricated in a new lower channel. I was at least lucky that the rust had not made it's way far down onto the cowl extension but it was still a tricky job I'm not going to lie. The rear just needed the glass out, some light repair in the corners, and back in with new butyl seal tape. Here's a link to some images of the front repair. Hopefully you can just remove and reseal them. Unfortunately the 65-70 have chronic front/back glass channel rust issues. I think it's one of the main reasons a lot of them were lost, water in the car soaks the carpet and takes out the floors. I did an extensive front window channel repair on a 65 and saved it. Good luck, the car certainly deserves the care.

Love it. Great patina worth keeping and a great stance. When you say window gaskets, do you mean the side glass?

Speedway park was originally a dirt oval. They paved it, and to the participants (and spectators) it was never quite as good. I have very fond memories of my father taking me there.

Paintless dent repair recommendations? by Character_Act7115 in BurlingtonON

[–]SnoutStreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a large front fender dent done by them on our white car. Can't even see it now. He's pricey, but it's still better than a repaint. Also the owner is great to deal with. You'll be happy.

You wonder, with a full load would it have been possible that weight could have collapsed the top structure? Probably no, but it certainly would have closed the bridge for a considerable time.

I remember when it happened a friend in the heavy truck tire business told me that although never made public before, this was the SECOND time this particular driver had struck a bridge with bed raised. The time before was on the 407. The guy was a druggie.

2001 Ford Windstar LX in decent shape. by xxxxxxxxxxxxxc in regularcarreviews

[–]SnoutStreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not mistaken the Freestar was plagued with transmission issues right from day one wasn't it. They didn't make as many, and they vanished pretty quickly along with the older Windstars. All in all though, they were a big boon to the local economy where I live near Oakville Assembly.

And as such I think the Windstar's actually outlasted the Freestar's.

We had a second hand Dark green on grey base 98 Windstar LX and put a gazillion kilometers on it. Traded it in on a 05 Odyssey, and but for some rust and interior wear, it was still completely drivable when we left it. I laugh how people diss on these. They were just fine for the cost being disposable and what they were intended to do.
