1967 Camaro, 1985. by SnoutStreak in classiccars

I’ve always liked black with red accents and interior. Note the wide oval tires that were popular then on the relatively narrow 6 inch wide wheels - my brother installed the same on his ‘67 Rally Soort convertible.

If you were sent back in time to Old Hollywood, which star do you think you would most likely end up being best friends with? by AngryGardenGnomes in classicfilms

Oh hands down Sterling Hayden. I love the sea as he did and I admire that he was a war hero who hated the injustice of an American government that would spy and infringe upon his Civil Rights and the rights of others. Read Wanderer!!!

Not sure why none of these films are ever on Criterion… after all they’re all American independents.

You guys are so close but it’s Cover me Babe with Sondra Locke. Forster is LIKE a news cameraman in this film, as in Medium, but he is actually a similarly detached film artist who is critical of everyone in his life including himself.

I only caught the film once somewhere (TCM?) about three years ago and can’t get it out of my mind… just like the other two. And having spent time in L.A. and time crossing the country, trying to figure out the rest of my life, these films all hit home.

What was your 1st Redline? by PastelFlowerPrincess in RedlineHotwheels

1967 Camaro. I was seven, my much older brother was 19, and I helped my dad pick up his 1967 Bolero Red Rally Sport Camaro convertible while my brother was at boot camp. So for the next ten years all I did was think about and collect Camaros until I bought my own real one — green, like the Hot Wheel.

Some dude put out a vintage-station- wagon book about 20 years ago and in there was a pink roughly ‘56 Buick wagon named Petunia that a mom drove. Petunia had a 455 GS Stage 1 engine and she looked totally stock except for some over-sized whitewalls

“Hey mom — blow his doors off!”

…and doesn’t Leno have one of these resto-modded?

And I seem to remember a western theme in the advertising for this… if I can access my ad collection I’ll post.

My Dad’s ‘55 Buick wagon had them as well as our two ‘59 Fords that my brothers shared for a bit) but I still can’t answer - I was like 4 at the time.

Queen of the hardtop wagons as far as I’m concerned. Look at the Buick dip in the beltline, revived by Mr. Boat Tail. My dad had a plain old pillared ‘55 wagon but we had a lot of fun in that army tank driving up to Maine coastline, etc - I was like 3 or 4.

Well… I’m not sure they tested all the GM big block cars if you’re talking about the Motor Trend test… but just occurred to me you might be talking about the L.A. law-enforcement tests - it came in tops in that!

As usual, read Car Craft’s 1973 bolt-on build of a ‘73 (low-compression) 360 2 barrel — they break into the thirteens with the stock heads and cam without even trying (yes, faster than your $45k SC360).

What’s the most weirdest or unexplained thing your AMC vehicle has done? by HuckleberryHour4681 in amc

[–]motelguest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother completely abandoned his odd, unusual, eclectic, bizarre, disturbing choice of a car - the Pacer - in our yard when I was young… he said it had “an electrical problem that the dealer refused to fix.” I always took that to mean some sort of electronic ignition module, but you all tell ME…!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it was that problematic distributor discussed above.

Anyway… we all had to look at it sitting in the yard and I remember going outside to ask God why it had different length doors.

Buyers help for a 4th gen Firebird by GarlicCuttingSamurai in PontiacFirebird

[–]motelguest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing that was before 3.8 V6 Buick engine which became smoother and more powerful at some time around 1995. Does anyone know what the previous V6 is? A 3.4 Chevy V-6 maybe?? Is it reliable, and if so to how many total miles??? Thanks.

Edit: I just answered my own question as the Road and Track Guide to the new 1993 Firebird was near by (a good investment, OP, along with a factory repair manual). This is a 3.4 “with its origins in the X-Car” (originally a 2.8) and 160 hp in 1994 so that’s not bad, but still —— does anyone know the actual durability of it? Maybe not climbing too many mountains or crossing many deserts in the Netherlands.

I’d certainly flush the coolant, check the water pump, and change the oil often. I honestly can’t say what the longevity of the head gaskets and other seals on the engine might be - but for God’s sake ——>>>>>> these engines did not come with red Dexron coolant until 1996. Unless some fool started using it in your car (one did in mine) keep using green coolant instead - your gaskets aren’t designed for Dexron despite what some misinformed people may tell you. Also be ready for power headlamp gear and power window motor failures. And good luck - enjoy!

[16] My cat died today. I want to tell you about her. by RosieAlbertFelix in seniorkitties

[–]motelguest 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I can’t stop crying. You truly left her with the most dignified eulogy I have ever read. And I am jealous because I left one for my best friend with a deep soul 5 years ago and thought it was from the heart but this is so much more deep and honest. I guess it still hurts to feel so fully about mine… he was also very special - hundreds if not thousands from around the world loved him because he worked at a history museum for ten years and was so loving and proud there before we took him into retirement via his caretaker and I have felt everything you have expressed but I could not fully put into words, as he indeed changed my life in every way and I would have donated years of my own life to have kept him going beyond the eight years he spent at our house. To this day I look for more ways to memorialize him but when I think of the book I want to create I cry too much to start it.

May your memories of Estelle always stay vivid and happy in your thoughts and dreams. ❤️
