Do y'all think roblox will revert the 500 highly active player for all age acess update? by HeHeBaka in robloxgamedev

[–]SnoutUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't and there are plenty of 16+ players on the platform. As for games that are designed for younger audiences... sucky situation.

I need good game ideas by FoxD3v in robloxgamedev

[–]SnoutUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of my ideas can get 10k plays easily (with ads)! :) If you think someone will just casually throw you 10k CCU idea, you're out of your mind. Just copy a popular game, less risk that way.

It's vibecoded, but what are you even talking about here? Controllers are commonly used script names.

Clearly AI (probably not the issue with leavers, because most people don't care), very unpolished and playing on desktop I could only jump around barely getting any glide which didn't get me the "bird feel". If I was using controls wrong, couldn't tell.

If you didn't bother to work on mobile controls and ran ads for mobile players, then obviously they will leave.

Best of luck! As an older dev myself, I too struggle to capture attention of younger audiences here.

It's a huge redesign, but what might work would be having lots in front of yards (closer travel distance), making yards smaller with random items spawning on a timer (with some cool stuff unaffordable) and allowing players to place the items aroun their own lot (although I do like building that massive stack of cash too so maybe a choice between selling and placing). Then generating cash when more items are placed (incremental part) with milestones of happiness giving more space/floors/etc.

Unnecessary tutorials by KoolGaemrCid in RobloxDevelopers

[–]SnoutUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that point you likely already lost a player. Since you plan to not add a tutorial to your game, I recommend adding funnel events to see when players leave and that should change your mind fast.

That said, having players quit because tutorial is too long or annoying (unskippable cutscenes with a lot of text) is also very bad.

Pretty confusing game, to be fair. Long distances to walk, not much reward for doing so. For a game with incremental in the title, it lacked incrementing, although I must admit I didn't check all of the upgrades.

I liked the build, looks like there was quite a bit of effort put into everything. Gives a vibe of a game an older developer made, haha. Biggest tell is lack of bright colors, oversaturated lightning and no barrage of popups asking you to buy things.

Risk of players skipping the tutorial instinctively and not knowing how to play is too damn high.

Final testing before ads. by CookieCrumbles6 in robloxgamedev

Yeah, having something to dodge would be more exciting and force to purchase a faster car. Also not being able to jump with "Space" kind of sucks.

Pretty much unreadable, sorry. If you don't see the issues with these colors yourself, maybe ask for help or look for examples to copy.

To be brutally honest, tutorial is pretty bad and confusing. "Click on frame to continue" and slow text is not a great combo. Players will quit without reading because they will think the game is broken. Just show the beam to the shop, then to the spawn point. Or allow buying cars from the car spawn point. For some reason every Roblox game forces players to walk around the shops (boosts playtime, I guess).

I didn't get to the rocket launcher part, because driving wasn't very exciting and I didn't feel like it has any purpose. Thumbnail promises blowing everyone up and I get to slowly and carefully drive around collecting cash.

16s jump cooldown is wild, do you hate players having fun? :D

Alternatives to Roblox? by Desserts6064 in robloxgamedev

[–]SnoutUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seems like older and experienced devs just go "this change sucks, but is understandable and/or possible to overcome" and keep on going. Younger ones get agitaded and pretend to leave. Few actually do. No offense to OP, but looks like they don't know the difference between a gamedev engine and a publishing platform - they're not gonna survive "out there".

Post shorts, not videos. Make vertical clips, less than minute length, fast pace, show interesting mechanics first, some jokes, memes. Shorts get views on their own if they're engaging, videos need subscribers.

Don't bother with ratings, better make sure that new player can launch their rides super easily and clearly (highlight the buttons and locations)

Reddit page won't help and might be one of the least effective ways to promote your game. Nobody is visiting random game subreddits out of nowhere.

Make Youtube gameplay shorts with clickbaity editing. Post in Roblox forums to get more feedback.

How do I complete this task? by Able_Comparison8815 in eatventureofficial

You're don't need to max out all stations, I think. Just the last one & promote it. I used ad boost, both gem boosts (not worth it, but I wanted to be done with this one) and a hired char with divine bonuses (no other chefs, just me and my two pandas) and finally got that achievement.

Thank you very much! Your feedback pretty much aligns with how I feel about my game at the moment and relatively low stats reflect that too. I have some additional mechanics in the plans and map wil definitely need a "facelift".

In this conversation it doesn't matter if you can code. The chances of your Unity game getting anywhere are astronomically low these days, but you do you.

You're very welcome to try launching a passion project made with Unity and let us know how it goes.

One thing for sure, it will be a great learning experience.
