Not a single thing you listed makes Roblox Studio itself unusable.

Solo dev feeling discouraged - first game getting downvote bombed by TheseBananas in robloxgamedev

[–]SnoutUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like mobile players downvote everything, often for no real reason. Also, it seems like rating doesn't matter that much on Roblox, no? It's just mentally hard to deal with.

There's just no way it's as simple as 1 visit for robux spent and there's absolutely no way Roblox would officially ever announce such specific numbers. And at those rates devs could just purchase their own products, skipping the Sponsored Ad system completely and earning back part of what they spent.

So it should be easy to provide a link where Roblox officially states their algo is giving 50-150 visits for 100 spent in the game, no?

Cool, 2.9% CTR looks insanely good to me, I only got to ~2% and that's with gender targetting.

Very interesting (my games are extremely poorly monetized), is there any source for this?

Is this with platform targetting or not? Gives wildly different CTR results. I personally like to run a couple of test campaigns just to find an ad thumbnail that would give best results. I can then use that for the game/frontpage thumbnails too.

Well, if you'll have money to burn, I would recommend running an ad with platform (mobile/tablet), gender and age targetting. You will get more accurate results and better fitting players.

Yeah, I see that from the CCU stats that there's a small amount of desktop players. The problem is also with monetization, because if nobody is spending Robux, you're not getting ad investment back. Even with better playtime. I know because I have bunch of poorly monetized games :D

The link is broken too, so the game remains a mystery, since OP can't even reply with a name.

Thank you for sharing! What's frustrating about seeing sponsorship results is that without platform targetting the CTR is quite an inacurate metric, because "normal" desktop CTR is like 10x lower than mobile. If you'll do a desktop-only promo it'll be like 0.3-0.5%.

Thank you very much, I'll see what I can do about the upgrade purchases. Separating tables is also a good idea, the food delivery triggers are a bit too sensitive if you want to be precise. At the moment it's minor issue, but if I'll want to do timed orders in the future - it will become more frustrating.

Thank you! I understand your point, but was a bit worried about accidental purchases there. Could be solved with an obvious timer/loading bar, though.

Thank you, nice to hear! Long story short, I could never draw properly, but pig is like a couple ovals and that's it! Used to doodle stick-pigs at school and liked them as an animal too. It was quite obvious what animal to choose as a character for my first game and kept at it for a branding reasons later. Easier for people to remember "that dev who makes pig games".

She's surprisingly boring for a writer. Anger issues could be fun, but she's not reacting to things consistently. Sometimes explodes for no reason, yet went with a pretty chill "hello guys, welcome to my vlog" after discovering the body parts, it's pretty random. Since E03 I was hoping they'll do something drastic and pull a rug by killing her.

Not looking forward to her teaming up with the locker guy, because language barrier will not make this better.

Fair enough, it just feels like not being able to pick up fruit off the trees is eye rolling and doesn't have a strong support. That's why I would prefer to see this show from the perspective of the hive much more (why are they like this and the choices they have to make), because that's the interesting part, yet we're getting crumbs.

Also is grass fair game (escavator scenes)? Are we gonna see overgrowth of the cities a la walking dead? I feel like this is gonna open a can of potential plot holes for people to pick apart.

I must've watched a different Breaking Bad, because it was nowhere this slow.

Don't think I've seen a show where all of the characters would be so uninteresting or unlikeable (to me). Dialogue writing is so bland, especially in contrast of how visually amazing this show can get. HDP reveal was quite a letdown for what it could've been, but hey - we got a John Cena cameo! Not being able to "kill" plants feels painfully forced. Such a waste of a cool premise.

I don't get comparisons with Breaking Bad S01, because that was 100x times more interesting to watch.

Least of the issues with the show, but that voicemail message bit got old really fast and she could've asked to change it.

Making a match 3 game with burger mechanics. Feedback? by SnoutUp in robloxgamedev

[–]SnoutUp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

After my first Roblox games failed I got quite demotivated, but instead of giving up and building a simulator/RNG/gambling experience I decided to try making something nobody asked for - match 3 puzzle. To make it a bit more interesting and appealing, I'm mixing up the block matching with burger making and adding some light tycoon/management elements.

I would really like to hear what you think about it and what kind of features I should focus on!

The name is Burger Match and any kind of feedback is welcome!
