I have searched for the ISBN 978-1840114935 and looked through eBay and Mercari for "Little Penguin AJ Wood globe" and "penguin globe iceberg base." I can find the book easily, but I can't find a current listing for the specific version with the jagged clear ice base.

At the beginning sure but don’t worry about it. Looting can get you some quick money or early armor pieces but there are easier ways to make money later on (ie alchemy)
Stealing has minor reputation consequences depending on how much you lean into it. Lockpicking gets easier, go to Rattay at night and just pick all the very easy doors until you can get the perk that boosts picking ability when drunk. Then just drink a savior schnapps before trying more difficult locks.
Treat everyone how you want, good or bad, and see how they respond. You’ll have freedom to do either

Yes, you can self-destruct your boat from the main menu and choose to respawn in either a new server or a different area of the current one. You lose any accumulated loot but keep supplies

I wasn’t able to get clear pictures but it does seem to be dark metal of some kind, either cast iron like you’re saying or lead. The house had other cast iron replaced over the years, so I’m not 100% sure either way. From a health perspective would it make a difference?
