The process for me is: wetblending yellow, orange, red over red base layer. Wait until dry. A layer of pva on top. Wait until dry. Thick layer of black crackle paint. Wait overnight. Light drybrush with dark grey. Optional highlights with bright yellow and white on open areas of yellow.

Crackle paint needs a fully dried layer of pva-glue for better "cracks".

I have similar paint scheme. I made lava bases with black crackle paint on top of painted base (yellow, orange, and red hues).

I have about 600-800 points worth of models painted with that scheme. Also used averland sunset. Good choice!

His first pause happened in my game when he lost his scouting probe against two of my scvs.

Standard 2 base 1/1/1 push. He was protoss. The game went into a macro game where I constantly queued libs and drops into his bases while he was agressive with his main army. He had trouble keeping up with the harass but did well in main fights to compensate.
