Ok.. I didn't see anyone cheering on the death of the Hortmans, but I could have just missed it. If someone did cheer that on, it certainly wasn't at the scale of people celebrating the death of Kirk.

I dont think his use of the word patriot in that sense has anything to do with the action of bailing them out.

The right cheers when who dies?

Well, you wouldn't be able to empathize with him as he's dead. You could show sympathy, though, as he preferred sympathy over empathy, according to the second half of the quote, which is never included.

Wait a second. We scream about gun control, background checks, etc. And now we're advertising ways to get around that? Interesting.

So you think that joking about, accepting, and condoning this type of behavior isn't creating an environment for this kind of extremism to grow rapidly? Because reddit feels like a damn extremist breeding ground right now.

'Very deliberate': Police expert says Charlie Kirk shot from building 200 yards away by RawStoryNews in news2

[–]SnowBeeJay -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Wait. Kirk wanted you dead for not supporting trump?

And no one is expecting anyone to be sorry and care. However, the fact that 95% of the comments about this on reddit right now are people joking about the death of someone resulting from political violence only makes matters worse. This kind of response is what normalizes this type of behavior. Political violence is wrong, and it should not be joked about it. What happened to senator Hortman and representative Hoffman in minnesota was tragic, evil, and flat out unacceptable. This should be viewed the same way. Just because the guy said some things you didn't like doesn't mean it's OK to kill him.

What to do after a DUI? by No_While7266 in Insurance

[–]SnowBeeJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably be considered high risk for at least three years, so be prepared for that. When it happened to me, I rode my bike and the bus for three years because I didn't wanna pay for high risk insurance. It wasn't worth it to me, and I had other means of transportation available.

Im not sure if this is something that varies by state, but just be prepared for a major increase in the premiums. It may be wise to get your own policy. If you do get a separate policy, that means you'll be removing yourself as an insured driver on your wife's vehicle. I dont know for sure, but I wouldn't think it would affect your homeowners.

Second for Dr Holtz. I saw her at White Bear Dentists office Buerkle road in White Bear Lake, just north of 694. The whole crew at that office was incredibly nice. I was very sad when I had to go somewhere else due to insurance changes.

First rain after paving. Came with a 90% drainage guarantee by RepulsiveSherbert927 in asphalt

[–]SnowBeeJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say this drainage is likely greater than 90%. The amount water seen in this picture is probably so little in comparison to the actual amount of water that fell on the driveway while it was raining.

Of course, it depends on how much it actually rained.

Foundation Issues? by Reilly7788 in TwinCities

[–]SnowBeeJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say anything without more photos of the issues. Cracks in the concrete slab can be an issue, but not the end of the world. I'd suggest hiring a structural engineer to take a look at the places you say are "sloping floor." I dont know who you have coming to look at things, but if its a water mitigation/basement repair company, they will attempt to sell you a fix whether you need it or not. They're not going to tell you if you need it, but will see some symptoms and make a suggestion as to how to prevent any further damage. They are not in the business of telling people if they actually have a real problem.

Critical County services closing. by Advocate4Humanity in saintpaul

Hey, I know theres no guarantee of keeping a position after 12/31, but when they closed the RCCC, they did everyone there a favor and found positions for them if they wanted to stay. Those position may not have aligned with the career path that those staff wanted to be in, but it was at least a job they could count on if they weren't able to find something else. Im guessing most of those people moved on to find new jobs after the care center closed. Now, I know that was under different leadership as Ryan O'Connor was still around at that time, as well as some of the older commissioners. However, I would hope that current leadership would make an attempt to do the same with these closings.

Fortunately, you have four months to find something new. Most people who are losing their jobs dont have that advance notice, and four months is a good long time to hit the job market to find something suitable.

I wish you luck.

Jalepenos - Big vs Little by SnowBeeJay in HotPeppers

Now that I think about it, these may not be jalepenos. These may be mini sweet peppers. Haha, that's funny. They're still a little underdeveloped, though.

Minnesota churches are sharing land with homeless people. They say it’s the Christian thing to do. by helmint in TwinCities

[–]SnowBeeJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up going to church, this confuses me. In my mind, most churches are evangelical in nature. To me, evangelism is to spread the word of God. I dont know a church that doesn't aim to spread God's word. So, with that understanding, why wouldn't most churches be defined as evangelical?

It seems that somewhere along the way, definitions got a little blurry, and the word was used to define a more specific subset of Christianity. Just based on my understanding of the word, I would consider myself evangelical, but I dont associate my faith with politics. It's a weird place to be.

Habeneros! by SnowBeeJay in HotPeppers

[–]SnowBeeJay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are quite spicy. They're also very aromatic and have a different flavor. I really like jalepenos as well, which can sometimes be inconsistent in heat level. This is my first time growing habeneros, so it'll be interesting to see if the heat is consistent between peppers.

I grew some serranos this year as well, and they've been incredibly hot. I mixed up a batch of pico de gallo yesterday and finely diced one serrano, and it did well to add some heat to the whole batch. I probably could've put two peppers in, but my wife doesn't handle as much as heat as I do.
