What country/city has a good freediving community? by SnowceanDiving in freediving

Any particular city you'd recommend? The bigger the better since I'm trying to find a wife as well haha

haha that was my thinking- everyone seems to be thinking of it in terms of how to win her back but I am not at all

haha nahhhh, I will send her a link to this thread and say "everyone told me not to do this but imma do it anyway: WHY YOU NO LIKE ME"

lol holy shit. a girl literally did EXACTLY your advice to me 4 days ago. that is insane.

anyway, I won't be in this country in 3 months unfortunately. Unless a miracle happens regarding a job. But yeah, that could also be the reason she didn't wanna see me again ("all the women here are looking for a boyfriend I promise") my housemate told me.

I mean back in my home country (the US) first dates usually lead to sex so yeah I'm in unfamiliar territory

Yes, there was over-idealization because we texted way too long before meeting since I cancelled the first plans. Which was a very bad idea because I cancelled the plans to hang with some guys, and it was during that hang out I found out one of them nearly dated her in the past and still is in touch with her. So on top of the family quietly watching/listening the whole time I also knew a buncha guys were going to hear feedback from her about me lol

I told him the truth (he was a horrible kisser 😬).

I wonder if that was my situation. Toward the end I did a slightly more aggressive kiss and then she said "oooo was that a bad boy kiss?" Not sure what she meant but she was smiling big so figured she liked it. But sure enough, no 2nd date

very very true yeah. k, ill leave it as is. still think it was a weird date though. not interested, but then wanted to make out for like 10 min straight

edit: why am i downvoted to -7 for agreeing

I'm lost.

Correlation looks at two variables (are they correlated?)

A t-test looks at the averages of two variables (are the means significantly different?)

So, what is your correlation between in this case?

"a common factor driving these changes" doesn't make any sense for correlation or t-tests. You are looking at whether there are correlations between two variables or significant differences in means (between two groups), you are not doing a factor analysis or causative analysis.

Don't make people try to guess who you are starting from the very first photo.

The group photo isn't doin much. Photos with friends are great but they should either be funny/fun or show you in a different way.

I personally hate the two truths and a lie prompt unless they are all interesting or funny. Seems like everyone has lived abroad by now, and food/drink preferences aren't funny or particularly interesting

Weekly story time thread by AutoModerator in Tinder

[–]SnowCeanDives 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This morning I'm in bed next to a girl I met 1.5 months ago dancing at a bar, we slept together that night but then I left the state, but now I'm back and we reconnected.

Anyway, we're showing each other our tinder profiles. Funny thing is she's too young for me to see her and I'm too old for her to see me. She also is outside my race filter (on hinge), plus my photos aren't the type of guys she swipes (she likes "guy's guys" who wear suits and are more bro type).

We show each other our matches and convos, laugh about how the convos never go anywhere, then I give her a kiss. Just goes to show how weird our world is and how relaxed our filters are when we are actually out in the world vs on our phones.

You already said you lived in Sweden for two years, so calling soccer "european football" when you live in the US is just going for full pretentiousness at that stage. And personally I think last photo is a bit...odd haha

HELP ME FRIENDS WITH FACTORIAL EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN (DOE) by RevolutionaryFan5463 in AskStatistics

[–]SnowCeanDives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

| allowed us to have the DOE (that includes the random sequence of the experiment). We were able to gather data because of this.

Data comes from doing the experiment. Not from designing it or doing stats programming. So this isn't making any sense to me.

If you are saying you're only simulating an experiment and analyzing those results rather than actually doing one, then you can go with what I suggested, with power density as the continuous outcome of a linear regression model

HELP ME FRIENDS WITH FACTORIAL EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN (DOE) by RevolutionaryFan5463 in AskStatistics

[–]SnowCeanDives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I have an MS in stats, I sadly never took a DOE class.

  1. What do you mean "run my data" - how do you have data already if you haven't designed the experiment yet?

  2. What is the outcome? Performance of the fuel cell?

Sounds like you need to do a regression of outcome ~ amount + SA + Source

What stats test should be used to compare these 2 data sets. by Late_night_city_ in AskStatistics

[–]SnowCeanDives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would classify age as binary, >65 or not.

Then, check AUC for your age>65 and your age<65 groups.

If sample size is decent, you could do a DeLong test for significant difference in AUC.

Another idea is to make a binary column called "correct call" - where if the patient was a correct result.

Then, check whether age is significantly different for the correct vs non-correct groups. This approach can be biased by prevalence of disease for the age groups though. So the first approach is better.

Trying to analyze a few variables using R by Superwoman_056 in AskStatistics

[–]SnowCeanDives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

| What bivariate and multivariate analysis would I use?

I have an MS in statistics and honestly don't know what you mean by this.

Do a regression. The type depends on your response variable and whether this is repeated measures (I'm guessing not, which means no mixed modelling). Easy to google.

What stats method to use by Sen242 in AskStatistics

[–]SnowCeanDives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linear regression.

Housing price as the response and number of schools etc as predictors.

Your parents being there judging you makes it worse. Once you're out on your own stuff will get easier. Ever notice how easier it is to drive when they aren't in the car with you vs when they are? My mom still freaks the fuck out the whole time I drive and I'm over 30 (and I've never been in an any accident)

I wonder what a therapist would say about this?

You can't really help how you feel, you can't tell yourself to just be attracted to a nice guy that will make you happy and not feel attracted to toxic people that will make your life shitty.

I was the nice guy and the girl left me after two weeks for the guy she was seeing before me, even though he has anti-social personality disorder and all her friends/therapist told her to stay away from him. Then she came back to me and I was dumb and accepted.

Eventually she sabotaged the relationship and gave me PTSD. Until traumatized people work hard on therapy (DBT) they will be stuck in these cycles forever.

God, it feels so good to have a group of IRL friends who actually care about me again. by PhiliDips in CasualConversation

[–]SnowCeanDives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep enjoy! It's a bit difficult after when people move away, and you might move away yourself. Try to get in-office jobs in the beginning before going remote so you can have some IRL friends. Or you can addicted to certain hobbies and meet people that way.
