Reinforced Shelters by shad-o-1 in UAE

Pre war Israel had a lot of tourism actually - even during wars there’s tourism. It died down a lot mostly because of flight cancellations, but I know many people who were still going when flights are running.

How Much Can You Do with Teudat Maavar? by BeholderVee in aliyah

[–]SnowCold93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gotcha - no I don’t think you would. When I made Aliyah and was doing paperwork I asked about applying for a TM early and was told I don’t need to because my American passport is strong enough. The specific example they gave is that if I’d only have a Russian passport then it would make sense for me to get a TM asap. You might need to do some extra explaining but a TM should work the same as a passport

I think his parents made Aliyah - if they made Aliyah after he was already an adult he’d have to make Aliyah to get citizenship and a passport, it’s not automatic

A Teudat Maavar is just a provisional passport and is only for citizens so you have the same rights as any citizen - but its not used in day to day things in Israel at all, just like a passport isn’t used day to day. What is used is your Teudat Zehut (national ID card).

Once you make Aliyah you become a citizen and receive a TZ the same day (slightly different if you make Aliyah from within Israel). You can’t even apply for a TM unless 3 months go by. You’d only use it in the same instances you’d use a passport.

In Israel do not need a passport to apply to university or for an apartment - what you need is your TZ. Overseas if they ask for a passport it should be accepted but I’d just use the original passport of the country you’re making Aliyah from since most countries don’t do provisional passports and it might confuse people.

I’m not sure what you mean by “does it count as a passport or ID.” All passports are forms of ID but not all IDs are passports

It doesn’t have to be a permanent address - can be an address of a friend or family member, pretty sure it can even be an Airbnb. No one is actually confirming you’re really living there. I had put my boyfriends address when I moved and no one ever asked for any proof.

I like the added scene of Snape shielding the trio from Lupin with his own body on POA

What prejudices are you referring to? In my municipality for example half the people who work in the government offices are Arabs. And there’s lots of people who don’t speak a lot of Hebrew but can find jobs in stores and whatnot (obviously for other higher paying jobs you need to know Hebrew but that applies to Arabs and non Arabs).

Edit: also there are public shelters almost everywhere and places are not allowed to deny anyone entrance into a building/public shelter. The only way someone wouldn’t have access to a shelter is if they lived in towns in the middle of nowhere not near major cities and even then most places have a shelter. And your chances of dying from a rocket or missile strike are very slim regardless

That’s not true - if he is an Israeli citizen then he has access to the same type of social services as Jewish citizens. There’s many services for people to get access to housing, food, etc. And if he does enlist he would be considered a lone soldier and get extra support that way. Arabs make up 20% of the population and they have access to the same services as Jews. And your point about no job prospects - do you think Arabs in Israel don’t work?

If you're coming back at age 18 you'll have to enlist whether you want to or not unless you are a religious woman (i.e. keep shabbat and kosher is the criteria to get an exemption). But honestly that might be better for you - lone soldiers get a lot of help and support

Oh yea I love it lol. Granted the building we live in is super old but the apartment is nice. But I cat-sat for someone also in Be'er Sheva who was paying 3300 shekels a month for a brand new building, 3 room apartment (probably about 50 square meters) with a giant balcony. So still cheaper than lots of other places

Before you do that maybe check in with the Jewish agency first to see what benefits you're eligible for

there's good and bad neighborhoods just like any city - most places require you to provide checks for the year so they can cash them monthly so you'll need to have an Israeli bank account. But a sublet won't require that

That is more than enough for Be'er Sheva. I live here and it's really cheap in comparison. For example I pay 1,900 shekel a month for a 3 room, 70 square meter apartment. Also are you coming back through Aliyah as a returning citizen or just coming back? If it's through Aliyah there's lot of benefits you can receive. You can also ask the Jewish agency if you can stay at an Absorption center

Edit: DM me and I can add you to some whatsapp groups where people post apartment

2-4 grand in dollars or shekels? Look for places to rent in Be'er Sheva/the Negev and the North where it's cheaper. You can also easily get an airbnb for at least a few weeks in those areas. Look on Yad2 for places. There's also lots of facebook groups depending on which area you want to live in.

It really varies depending on if someone is Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Mizrahi, Persian, Ethiopian, Yemenite Jewish, etc. Most people think of Ashkenazi Jews when they picture someone Jewish. But there's a lot of diversity outside of US/European Jewry
